Beta Pictoris b

[edit]

Unlike what you did in Beta Pictoris b, its exomoon is a candidate, that's why the paper's title is "A potential exomoon from the predicted planet obliquity of β Pictoris b"! It is clearly implying that there is now an exomoon candidate, an even if the obliquity is just predicted, it is already likely to be misaligned. Also the exoplanet.eu website recognizes this as an exomoon. 21 Andromedae (talk) 20:39, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A predicted or hypothesized object is different from a candidate for which there is direct evidence. Speculation should not be presented as fact. To me, the sentences you cite in this edit imply that it's premature to refer to this hypothetical moon as a candidate. Frankly exoplanet.eu is not a very reliable source, it often contradicts literature sources and has included other purely speculative objects as candidates (e.g. a Titius-Bode law prediction not supported by evidence, another hypothetical moon from a source asking "if a moon with these properties existed, would it be detectable?") Do you think this should go too? Lithopsian (talk) 20:54, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Probably. I was already aware of it as (what I'm pretty sure is) a fake name originating on Wikipedia but just noticed that it still appeared in two articles. SevenSpheres (talk) 20:56, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started

I just created a redirect, you should thank 21.Andromedae for writing the article... SevenSpheres (talk) 15:59, 28 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Anton Petrov (Science communicator requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
