User talk:Scriber88

Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Scriber88, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Information icon Hello, Scriber88. I noticed that your recent edit to Permanent/Play Mode added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Here's the album's cover photo via https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Randy_Crawford_-_Play_Mode.jpg. Could you indicate whatsoever problematic issue stems from the uploading of such? With your clarity and cognizance being profoundly appreciated in this instance.(talk to me) 06:32, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't the file name you (initially) used, so it wouldn't have shown up. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 22:06, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I patrol new album articles so please let me know if you would like any help creating and editing new articles. You seem to be modeling your edits after some older editors who made a lot of mistakes with formatting and citations. I'm doing my best to correct those errors so you may want to model any future articles you create after I make those corrections. Be sure to do things like italicize magazine titles such as Billboard. There is also no need to link a word or term that was already linked previously in the article. Track listing is two words, and in your citations add an access date, and if the publisher and website are the same (like Billboard or AllMusic), you don't have to add both (the ".com" doesn't matter). If you don't understand any of the edits I've made, feel free to ask. Thanks and happy editing. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:02, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yep acknowledged, understood and well appreciated too. Again thanks @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars and what not. Scriber88 (talk) 22:28, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Scriber, a year and a half after you acknowledged my comments and suggestions to you, you still tend to make the same mistakes in your edits. Please read the above again and apply them to future article creations and edits. Checking out the corrections I make to them may help you understand. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:33, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Scriber, you still make a lot of formatting mistakes with the new articles you create. Remember to italicize magazine titles like Billboard, and only link items when mentioned the first time (at least don't link the same term when mentioned again in the same paragraph or section). Citations should include an access date as well when retrieved from an online source. Just check out the edits I do to the articles when I clean them up for you, and then you can get the hang of how they should be done. Thanks and happy editing. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:10, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Scribner, I agree with the above. You've been here way too long to keep making the same mistakes ... it's starting to verge on the disruptive. Please take more care with your editing. And please remember to shorten your quoted review material. Caro7200 (talk) 14:19, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How to sign your comments in discussions

[edit]

Hello! I saw your comment at the AFD. Just wanted to let you know you can just type 4 tildes (i.e. ~~~~) to sign and date your comments on discussion pages. You can customize your signature in your preferences as well. (Also want to thank you for your contributions, which I have encountered frequently in the new pages feed, I hope my edits are both helpful and a bit instructive). —siroχo 19:23, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wow your clarity and cognizance is well appreciated too. Scriber88 (talk) 19:54, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Larry Dunn.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Larry Dunn.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 08:19, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ladies of the Eighties moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Ladies of the Eighties. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Frost 20:34, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Cite work

[edit]

Instead of {{Cite work}} for a self-reference to the album, it is recommended that you use {{cite AV media notes}} per WP:ALBUM/SOURCE. But why do you continue to add the album citation to after the sentence where you put in the chart information in the lead. That doesn't make any sense. It's unbelieveable how long you've been editing on this site and creating articles, and you fail to attempt to improve your articles at all. Just watch and learn from the edits that others do to improve them for you, and you'd do so much better. Good luck. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:15, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Continuously seeking to contribute to Wikipedia in a constantly positive manner. While of course seeking, from time to time, to improve upon any previous edits of mine. Certainly welcoming any constructive criticism, from users like you, to exceptionally enhance my editing expertise. Again appreciative of being a longtime Wikipedia editor who's work is always acclaimed by several users across the site. Scriber88 (talk) 10:52, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Scriber, you're starting to make the same mistakes again. In this edit, you placed the AV media citation after the sentence containing chart information. That info will never come from the album itself. Also, you stopped italicizing Billboard again. I don't think that should too hard to remember to do. And some of your AllMusic citations when regarding chart positions don't confirm those chart positions. Make sure you open up and check EVERY reference you add when you copy them from another article and be sure to update the "access-date" parameter. There should never be an access date earlier than the creation date of the article. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:05, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I continue to have to correct your articles. Why do you fail to improve your articles despite the constructive criticism given? Is it done purposely or is it too hard to remember? Just wondering considering how long you've been editing here. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:57, 28 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Continuously aimed to enhance each and every created/previously edited articles. Always welcoming worthwhile follow up edits both on my part and by fellow editors upon such. Certainly welcoming more constructive criticism, to further elevate my editing expertise. Given I'm a longtime Wikipedia editor with lots of edits/articles acclaimed across the site. Scribner, you keep making the same mistakes, to the point of disruption. Please ask for help or visit the Wikipedia:Teahouse. Tequila Mockingbird

[edit]

Hi! Just stepped into this page and noticed you took out the single release mention for the album. Usually in album's pages the release single is always mentioned at the beginning, so I added it back, with the citation from the Billboard article that also was deleted. I also added it in the album infobox as template recommends. I don't know if it was an accident or not since there was no edit summary description, but I came here to be sure to communicate it for you.

Have a nice day! - Itscookiemaster (talk) 00:07, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well that said album had no charting singles at all. As such those details wasn't incorporated within that page. With a doubt that's a bit of interesting info though. Scriber88 (talk) 03:13, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
