- Disappointed to say the least...must I re-write the whole article and not use LLMs at all? Mindstrm (talk) 15:36, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, you do need to write it yourself, not use LLM's or copy (other than quotes) from elsewhere. This is something that should have its own article though. Can use Encyclopedia Of Pinball - Whiffle to Rocket 1930-1933 - Volume 1 : Richard M. Bueschel
- The Billboard 1932-05-14: Vol 44 Iss 20 : Internet Archive
- Internet Pinball Machine Database: Automatic Industries, Incorporated 'Whiffle Board' Wilbers (talk) 08:40, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply! I have already have the article deleted and have started from scratch. I am going to painstakingly write it all using the WYSIWYG editor here on the site and I will cite all my sources and quotations. Mindstrm (talk) 21:31, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
I've just seen where you are up to, great job with it. I happened to have just stumbled on this when I was trying to find something for Laser War PINBALL EXPO '89 - My wife comes along - By Russ Jensen If it was a report by someone random then it wouldn't be considered reliable, however considering who he was I think its useable as a reference, and a very useful one at that. See Pinball News - First and Free
Maybe you can have a go at Baffle Ball after you've finished this one - I rewrote what had been there before, and doubled the size of the article, but its still only Start class. I expect you have seen it already, but there is a wikiproject page for pinball Wikipedia:WikiProject Pinball - Wikipedia Wilbers (talk) 11:13, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- Wilbers!! Thanks for taking an interest in my submission! I am super passionate about pre war games and I will be updating as I see the need! I will take a look at Baffle Ball for sure! I was recently at at convention and loved the pre-war section and it sparked my curiosity. Any way to chat more real-time? Happy July 4th if you are from USA! Mindstrm (talk) 11:34, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, there isn't a real time chat option on Wikipedia, just article and user talk pages like this one. I am on discord though if needed. As it happens I'm not in the US, but in the UK so today we just call Friday! Happy 4th July to you though if you are from the States. Wilbers (talk) 11:53, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- Wonderful! Thanks for the quick reply! I am nearing complete with this version of the article...any last minute suggestions to avoid the dreaded auto decline again lol? I wrote the whole darn thing this time in the WYSIWYG editor and included all relevant sources. I will include the link from the story from Rob Froom as I believe I referenced that in my literature on the topic Mindstrm (talk) 11:58, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- Also is there a discord I should know about beside this one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Discord Mindstrm (talk) 12:09, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- That is the main one. Wilbers (talk) 13:35, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, well it shouldn't be declined this time because you have written it yourself, and it passes Wikipedia:Notability If you add in this book Pinball 1 - Google Books as another reference to be even more certain - copy the ISBN number into the box after clicking on cite and hopefully it will do most of that automatically - its on at least page 150 so put that as the page number (unless you have access to a copy to actually read what it says).
- Main thing left that you need to be careful with images that they don't violate copyright - the one from a patent is an exception as its automatically OK, but the others need checking - usually its the photographer who retains the copyright, although they can choose to make it freely available. Everything else below is minor.
- As a formatting thing, names of machines should be italicised.
- Should be able to slightly expand the history section from the Bob Froom talk. Swap the last two sub-sections round so "Collector value and scarcity" is last
- in-tact should be intact.
- Delete the sentence "Simulating pinball has almost as rich of a history as pinball itself and Whiffle is no exception to this trend." - it doesn't say anything useful and works better without it. Also the "Simulations" part needs reworking.
- Don't think you need any of the see also links - List of pinball machines can be added as a category instead, if the 2 locations are places that have the machine then maybe state that somewhere and use wikilinks?
- You have some external links in the text. According to Wikipedia:External links - Wikipedia they should be external links at the bottom of the article or inline references instead (that is something I got wrong as well before I read that). Wilbers (talk) 13:33, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- ..found the bit that explains images from patents Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter - Wikimedia Commons up to March 1989 generally OK, but you should add {PD-US-patent} to it - I'm not quite sure how to do that Wilbers (talk) 13:55, 4 July 2025 (UTC)

Brilliant work on your first article, and even better that it has begun as a B-class article Wilbers (talk) 00:28, 8 July 2025 (UTC) |
