Your email
[edit]...seems to have slipped through the cracks: your case was looked into, but we never responded to you. I'm no longer on ArbCom so I can't deal with it, but I bumped up the thread and have asked the new member of ArbCom to look into it. Please accept ArbCom's apology: we should not have let this slip by. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 18:32, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
Unblock appeal
[edit]Response to unblock appeal #20391 from the "Unblock Review Team":
I have unprotected your talk page to enable you to start the unban process there. You should include text that you would like to be put to the Community with a request that an Admin post at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AN. You should follow these instructions.
Thank you,
Just Chilling English Wikipedia Administrator
Per the above I would like to include the following text to be put to the Community with this request that an Admin post it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AN.

Marshallsumter (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Reasons for unblock are
- the block is no longer necessary because I understand what I am blocked for, I will not do any of the "intent not aligned with Wikipedia's mission" per User:lifebaka again, and I will make productive contributions instead,
- Wikiversity provides a more than ample environment to write lectures and laboratories using original research and/or synthesis. I have no need nor desire to contribute to Wikipedia in this regard.
- Per User:lifebaka: "you will need to either stop or finish your research before you can be unblocked". I have finished my v:Dominant group original research with respect to such articles I created on Wikipedia. See v:Dominant group/Proof of concept.
- The block is no longer necessary because I understand what I am blocked for: I will not commit any "copyright violations" per local en:Wikipedia policy again, and I will make productive contributions instead.
- Per Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks: "Earn back our trust by proposing improvements to articles or proposing firm steps you will take so the [issues] cannot happen again." Each of the fields that I have contributed to in the past have project pages such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Astronomy, Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics, Wikipedia:WikiProject Geology, Wikipedia:WikiProject Volcanoes, Wikipedia:WikiProject Palaeontology, Wikipedia:WikiProject Genetics, Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemistry, Wikipedia:WikiProject Biology, Wikipedia:WikiProject Ethnic groups, Wikipedia:WikiProject Sociology, Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthropology, Wikipedia:WikiProject History, and many others. Perhaps the easiest and best way for firm steps I will take so the issues cannot happen again is to suggest any changes, improvements or new articles first on these project talk pages to get consensus, review and/or guidance.
- I would like to import many of my currently deleted articles to Wikiversity. This can be accomplished in two ways: (1) I can request a short term undelete by a sysop as I do now on commons of the sysop who deleted a file to import the article, or (2) I can request a short term undeletion of an article by email so that I can import it with its edit history to Wikiversity.
Accept reason:
I have unblocked you per the AN discussion.—CYBERPOWER (Chat) 18:06, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Importing Wikipedia articles to Wikipreprints
[edit]Hi Marshallsumter, I saw your last edit in the page Wikipedia:WikiJournal article nominations suggesting me to import the page Diffeology to WikiPreprints myself.
I assume you have been reading my questions at Talk:WikiJournal_User_Group#Wikipedia:WikiJournal_article_nominations_is_dead and/or User_talk:OhanaUnited#WikiJournal_article_nominations.
However, if I try to follow your suggestion, using the "Special Import" tool, as per WikiJournal_User_Group/Editorial_guidelines#Importing_from_Wikipedia, I get the message
"You do not have permission to import pages from another wiki, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Custodians, Importers, Transwiki importers, Curators."
This is also what prompted me to ask @Fritzmann2002 and @OhanaUnited if authors require explicit permission Wikijournal editors. If you have been involved in such matters before, could you share your experience? Francesco Cattafi (talk) 14:12, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- It looks like Hypericum sechmenii was copied from the Wikipedia page by Fritzmann and simply made a subpage of WikiJournal Preprints as WikiJournal Preprints/Hypericum sechmenii bypassing the use of Import. On Wikiversity, try creating a page like WikiJournal Preprints/Diffeology and using a copy of Diffeology to provide the text. --Marshallsumter (talk) 18:09, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, I tried to create the page manually. One issue is that the template Template:Convert links has been deactivated just a few days ago (claiming it was unused, and I don't understand why...), so the link which should point to Wikipedia are now all broken. The instructions do not report any other method, so probably I will have to resort to a manual conversion one by one...
- Anyways, since the page now does exist, I have submitted also the "Authorship declaration" google form; I'm going now to inform also OhanaUnited about these last updates. If you can, I would appreciate if you can also raise these issues with the rest of the editorial board, and in case update the general guidelines, so that it will be clearer what authors can/should do when submitting an article. Francesco Cattafi (talk) 22:25, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know why Koavf decided to delete one of our Templates but you can also copy the one on Wikipedia and create "Template:Convert links" again here. Koavf is not on our Editorial Board. --Marshallsumter (talk) 23:15, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks again! I actually contacted Koavf directly, since there were no similar template on Wikipedia to copy from, and there was already another user complaining about the deletion of other templates (User_talk:Koavf#Deleting_all_unused_templates). The template was quickly restored it, so I could use it in the WikiPreprint. Francesco Cattafi (talk) 08:10, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed with all of this, and thank you Francesco for following up. There needs to be some work dedicated to keeping the Wikipedia to WikiJournal pipeline working, as it seems like those kinds of articles make up a decent percentage of the journal's output. If it were better advertised here and simpler to submit, I'd wager there would be more high-quality submissions to all of the wikijournals. Fritzmann (message me) 23:36, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
