My name is Jacob Schepmann, I am an ensign and Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. I graduated in 2025 from the United States Naval Academy, where I was a history major and Arabic minor. I have been editing Wikipedia since around 2015, and consider myself a jack-of-all-articles and master of none. My interests are niche and varied, but creating new articles from redlinks is what I spend most of my time doing. I have, at one point or another, spent a large portion of time working on the following subjects: the plant genus Hypericum, female politicians for Women in Red, ship launch lists, Vorpostenboote patrol boats, Ukrainian culture, and recent shipwrecks and maritime incidents (specifically surrounding the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Red Sea Crisis). I also enjoy copyediting/reviewing and will do so for any article at request.
The nature of my professional life and education mean that I often go several weeks without editing Wikipedia, sometimes without notice. I do my best to keep an eye on my talk page and watchlist during these times, but please have understanding if I am sometimes tardy in responding to a message.
