Fábio (Fábio Deivson Lopes Maciel)

Hello again. I came over this article here https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6434849/2025/06/20/fabio-shilton-world-record-appearances/ and it says "...Fabio did also play for Athletico Paranaense in the late 1990s, but all of his appearances for the club, according to Athletico Paranaense, came in youth games...." so should these games be removed from the list if this is true you think or how do you see this?

There is much talk about fabio to overtake shilton in most games but in the article (and many others like this one https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/fluminense/noticia/2025/05/23/checamos-saiba-quanto-falta-para-fabio-do-fluminense-ser-o-recordista-de-jogos-na-historia-do-futebol.ghtml) it seems they use the correct numbers except for cruzeiro (they use 976 games so they include friendlies for them right) so it seems when he gets more than 1387 they will call it a record but it would be wrong or how do you think? Hello! That is the thing ogol (playmakerstats: https://www.playmakerstats.com/player/fabio/5637/career) has removed the 16 games for Atlético Paranaense.

They have also removed the 4 games for Cruzeiro in 2000 season which we were unsure of and they have fixed the one game they had wrong in the 2011 season (Things you have notes of in your sandbox list++).

This is why i am thinking that the 16 games were youth games (as the article said) and the 4 games was in fact friendlies (which is a match to cruzeiropedia if i remember correct) or maybe youth games to which wrongly was on ogol/playmakerstats before what do you think?

Because he has matches unaccounted for the Paraguayan clubs. That's why you have '+' in them. For instance, an example, based on ENFA, he played in 1997 for Olimpia, but in the stats the matches start from 1998. We have a problem because there is an article from BBC that ranks him first: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cm21x8mzdnxo but they include 976 matches for Cruzeiro, which includes 21 friendlies. The issue arises from the fact that Brazilians don't separate matches to friendlies and non-friendlies, but include them all. We should ignore the article and keep the total to 1373.
