Thanks for notifying me. I know what an RFC is. I would not call this an RfC. It's likely to end up functioning as a preliminary step for an RfC, but I would call it a very thourough preliminary discussion. (As Berchanhimez put it: it's a RFCBEFORE)
Should I make a note at the discussion that those people are liable for sanctions? Do I need to do anything else?
I also do know what a contentious topic is haha. I think the top of my talk page still has an old notice.
Sidenote: I was not aware that this was formally a contentious topic (although I think it makes sense). Does this topic have requirements like ECR? (I have not yet requested the restoration of my EC rights, and I likely won't for a few days/weeks)
That said, even though I am a bit more familiar than I think you assumed, I will still try to be reserved (wiktionary:terughoudend, a dutch word I don't quite know how to translate, is what I mean) as much as possible, because I do feel like I'm still a newbie.
If possible, could you inform me, or place a message somewhere on the talk page about any decision that is made that would be relevant for the discussion at talk:lgb alliance? One user already pointed out that a broader process was ongoing which could influence the policy we need to consider for the discussion at the afforementioned talk page. Thank you very much in advance.

- I don't think you need to notify anyone of the (still pending by the way) sanctions, just figured I'd tell you! The topic does indeed have some additional requirements, which are laid out in the template you now accidentally have two copies of, the most important of which is indeed just be careful! Having said that, I think my main worry is that you are over-engineering that discussion in a way that is mostly just going to confuse the other discussion participants. Things like civility etc are already covered by guidelines and if you feel a user isn't following those guidelines you can take it to (for example) WP:AE. Long comments like the one you left also kind of risk ending up looking like bludgeoning if you're not careful with them. Keep it short, keep it simple, is my recommendation. PS: my name is based on a weird custom amongst geologists to do exactly what it says on the tin. It's an old trick to
scare the undergradsidentify things like quartz/limestone, gypsum and salt(obviously) in the field when you don't have much equipment with you. Quartz becomes transparent, limestone melts in your mouth a little bit, and you can recognize a couple others by taste. --Licks-rocks (talk) 00:28, 12 October 2025 (UTC)- You have no idea how I had to suppress my laughter at
