Deadline 1 (Week1,2) Lim Yebin

[edit]

Hello Professor, I am a student of 'Media Trends and Globalization (Class A)'

I have completed the "Wikipedia:Training for students" modules (Basics and How-to refreshers), and 위키백과:길라잡이. But it does not appear on the dashboard. I accessed it through the link you provided, so I am not sure what caused this issue. If I need to retake the training, I will be happy to do so. I have also uploaded a screenshot showing the completed training to Google Drive and attached the link for your reference.

My dashboard profile link: [6] Screenshot link showing my completed training (with my username visible): [7]

And I would like to translate the Wikipedia article “Global digital divide” into Korean for Project 1. This article is not available in Korean Wikipedia, and its topic aligns well with globalization and digital inequalities—the themes discussed in our course.

Here is the English article link for your reference: [8]

Please let me know if this selection is acceptable, or if you would prefer another topic.

Thank you. Ybni1223 (talk) 17:32, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ybni1223 Good.
You do not need to retake the training
Global digital divide is approved as your first translation topic, but per our syllabus you need to choose one more. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 13:20, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jo YeSeul The topics are tentatively approved, but you need to sign our spreadsheet then talk to me again, so I can record your choices there. You have not signed our spreadsheet correctly or not at all. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 13:25, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Professor, I wrote it on the spreadsheet last Monday. I think it's an error caused by using 'Jo Ye-seul' in lowercase letters instead of capital letters. How can I solve it? Jo YeSeul (talk) 13:37, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jo YeSeul It seems you mispelled your Wiki username by writing JoYeSeul instead of Jo YeSeul. I've fixed it; I assume there is no other student with similar name in our class. You may want to double check this later in the spreadsheet.
Topics are approved and recorded. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 14:03, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, professor. I will double check in the next class. Thank you. :) Jo YeSeul (talk) 14:16, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

1) Media Trends and Globalization I want to translate Immigration policy of the United States to korean.

Thank You. Jaewon911 (talk) 05:36, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jaewon911 Immigration policy of the United States is approved, but you'll need to choose one more topic.
You can update Busan/Haeundae but since it's already well developed, you'll probably need to choose one more topic to work on. Busan/Suyeong and Busan/West look less developed and would be good to improve. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 13:18, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Professor, I checked what you left. I'm sorry to bother you because I didn't get approved smoothly at once.
I would like to proceed by choosing Immigration to South Korea one more topic. Is it possible?
I would like to choose the Busan/Suyeong document as recommended by the professor. Is it possible?
Have a nice weekend. See you in the next class. Jaewon911 (talk) 07:53, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello professor I am a student of 'Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)' and 'Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis'. In this lesson 《Media Trends and Globalization》, I would like to translate the article Cannabis in Japan into Chinese. In this lesson《Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis》,I would like to translate the 2024 Central European floods into Chinese. Please check.Thank you. Guwiqiie (talk) 14:56, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Guwiqiie Good, topics approved - but for Globalization, for which you need to translate two articles. For data class, you need to chose a tourist location article to improve on Wikivoyage Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:19, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, Professor, in 'Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)', I want to translate the Anti-Korean sentence in Japan into Chinese. And then I want to edit my hometown, Guangdong Shantou, as a tourist destination on Wikipedia Travel.Guwiqiie (talk) 05:30, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Guwiqiie Right now I've allocated Cannabis in Japan to zh and 2024 Central European floods to zh to your Globalization; you don't need to choose a third Wikipedia topic unless it is for extra credit.
Shantou is already partially developed. I can approve it for your project, but you should choose one more location half-developed location to improve, as most other people are working on locations that are much less developed. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 11:54, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello professor,I'm going to give up editing Shantou and choose Nan'ao Island as my editing project again, which is a place that I haven't edited at all, so I think it is very suitable for my editing project. Guwiqiie (talk) 13:29, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 2,3) Kim younggyun

[edit]

Dear Professor:

I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization (Class A)" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".

1) Media Trends and Globalization

This is a result report on the main project (translation) of this corse.

I've translated the When China Rules the World article into Korean. I registered this article on my dashboard because I was approved for translation of it last time.

This is the link to the history of editing the Korean translation. If you go in, you can see what I edited.

2) Detailed Description

1. I tried to refrain from using the translator as much as possible and make it a natural translation. No user has raised issues with translation yet. If I received a request for translation improvement, I will accept it and improve the quality.

2. I added two categories that are as similar to the English document as possible

(add '21세기 중국' = '21st century in China' and add '중국의 경제' = 'Economy of China')

3. I specified which documents were translated in the 'editing summary'.

4. I added 'educational assignment template' and 'translated page template' on talk page.

Thank you, --Kim younggyun (talk) 17:18, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kim younggyun You are making an excellent progress. Your new translation is missing the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Infoboxes (ko:위키백과:편집 지침/정보상자).
The one you need is likely https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%ED%8B%80:%EC%B1%85_%EC%A0%95%EB%B3%B4
You should also combine (reuse) identical references. If you don't know how, see or ask me for help in class/office. See Help:Footnotes#Footnotes:_using_a_source_more_than_once - this is the code guide, visual editing makes it even easier. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:27, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the explanation. As you let me know, I added the infobox and put together references from the same source.[17]And I sent an e-mail about the blog invitation, so I would appreciate it if you could check it. --Kim younggyun (talk) 05:54, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Professor. I am taking two courses, ‘Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)' and ‘Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki’. I'm going to do all the tasks(Deadline 2) by myself.

1) Media Trends and Globalization I want to translate Censorship by Twitter and Censorship by TikTok into Korean.

2) Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki I'd like to work on [Damyang] in Wikivoyage.

I'd appreciate it if you could check it. JJinYouuRiiiii (talk) 05:10, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@JJinYouuRiiiii You need to sign the spreadsheet in the class first - I cannot record your topics otherwise. Censorship by Twitter is ok to translate to Korean but the other topic is already translated.
Likewise, Damyang seems already well developed on Wikivoyage, you need to choose a less developed or missing topic. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:30, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
1) I have registered myself on the spreadsheet. Instead of translating “Censorship by TikTok”, I will translate Aging of China into Korean
2) Instead of Damyang, I will edit the Gyeongsan page on Wikivoyage. JJinYouuRiiiii (talk) 14:35, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@JJinYouuRiiiii Aging of China has already been reserved by other students, so you need to choose another topic. How about Aging of Japan - expanding ko:일본의 고령화?
Gyeongsan is approved Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:05, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering if it would be possible for me to work on the Korean translation of the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_change_in_JapanJJinYouuRiiiii (talk) 07:02, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Media Trends and Globalization

I've translated the "Social comparison bias" article into Korean. You can check the records on the dashboard.

This is the link to the history of editing the Korean translation.

I would be appreciate it if you could review this.

Thank you:)

Hong Da Hyeon (talk) 11:51, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Hong Da Hyeon
Your translation is a good start. I see you already good some feedback from the reviewers. Please carefully proofread your work. Poor translation quality resulting from not proofreading machine translation output is the most common error for articles to be rejected by the reviewers. When translating to Korean, read ko:위키백과:번역 and ko:위키백과:번역에 대한 조언.
Some additional feedback:
After publishing your article, if it is a new creation, please add categories (instructions in Korean: ko:위키백과:분류). See bottom of the original articles for categories and try to add a similar one to your article.
You should also link the article to the original version you are translating it from by clicking the "Add interlanguage links" button - see here for how to to it: Help:Interlanguage links - Wikipedia
When you publish your article in English, please add {{Educational assignment}} to its talk page.If you publish it in Korean, please add ko:틀:과제 문서 to its talk page.
When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, you should make it clear your work is a translation. Read more about this requirement here: WP:TFOLWP. As explained in the Help:Translation#Licensing, please explicitly say in your edit summary that your work is a translation, and from which Wikipedia. Next, please add the following template to the article's talk page - ko:틀:번역된_문서 (if it is in Korean).
Please monitor the history of your page as well as your talk page on that project for feedback from reviewers. If your article is declined (moved back to draft/user space) you'll need to address any issues raised in order to republish it.
Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:37, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback, Professor. I have made revisions reflecting your comments. This is the Wikipedia page I worked on [link], and you can see the process here. [link] I would greatly appreciate it if you could review it once more. Hong Da Hyeon (talk) 13:42, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hong Da Hyeon Good progress, but there is major error with your citations. Please ensure your articles are using the Wikipedia:Footnotes (ko:도움말:각주) system. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:36, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the revisions as you suggested. [link] Here you can find my editing record. However, in the references section, the numbers such as [1], [2], … are still displayed, and I have not been able to find a way to remove them. I would greatly appreciate it if you could kindly advise me on how to resolve this issue. Thank you. Hong Da Hyeon (talk) 03:15, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The matter has been resolved. Kindly disregard the response above, and I would sincerely appreciate it if you could review the link provided below.
@Hong Da Hyeon Good progress. There may be some unnecessary bolding (review ko:위키백과:편집 지침/서식) and in see also, 인지적 편견 목록 is unlinked. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 05:31, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Soyeongs Unfortunately, the quality of these articles in English Wikipedia is very low. We should choose better topics to translate. If you are interested in media topics, here's a list of better quality articles from that area: Category:GA-Class Media articles and Category:FA-Class Media articles Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:07, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I want to translate Fuck: Word Taboo and Protecting Our First Amendment Liberties, and R U Professional, and if I have a time, I'll do Freedom of Worship (painting) as well. Is it okay to translate? I found those articleas at Category:FA-Class Media articles.

I add a reference Cite in KPop Demon Hunters#cite note-93 number90 with this news article.

Would you like to check it? Thank you. Soyeongs (talk) 05:40, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Soyeongs That content already had several references. Please add a reference to a claim that does not have any references. Adding a 5th reference to a claim that has four already is not very useful. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 14:01, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Lzk15038863666 Very good, topics approved.
But remember that for Wikidata you need to choose and improve a Wikivoyage article, not Wikipedia. So you don't need to translate that many articles on Wikipedia (for a group of 2 people, one en->zh and one zh->en will suffice for Globalization). Hello Professor, I am a student of 'Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis' and 'Media Trends and Globalization'. And I would like to translate the documents in the link below into Korean in each class.

1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_of_YouTube 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_of_Twitter

Please check if this assignment is okay Wldmsdl23 (talk) 06:48, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Wldmsdl23 Censorship of YouTube has already been reserved by another student (you want translation to Korean, I assume). Same for Censorship of Twitter. You will need to choose other topics.
For data class, you should be improving a Wikivoyage article, not Wikipedia. Please check the assignment description in the syllabus Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 14:15, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the topic again and selected it.
1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter_suspensions in korea.
2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_York_Times in korea. Wldmsdl23 (talk) 04:04, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Yang Insung For Globalization class, if you want to create a new article like this, since it is quite challenging, you should talk to me during office hours. For now I recommend doing an easier translation task.
Sejong is a good topic and is approved Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 14:17, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then, I'd like to translate two English topics to Korean for [Media Trends and Globalization] project. Cinema of the United Kingdom (Korean wiki link: [42]), and Internet Archive (Korean wiki link: [43]).

Deadline2 (week 2,3) Ho Ryuyeong

[edit]

Dear professor, I am a student of Media Trends and Globalization (class A) I am writing to submit the draft translations for the two assigned topics as part of Deadline 2.

Below are the diff links to my work for your review: 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lalauraria/Origin_of_speech&oldid=1312227035 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lalauraria/Sex-ratio_imbalance_in_China&oldid=1312226431 Please let me know if you have any feedback or require further revisions.

Thank you Lalauraria (talk) 12:27, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Lalauraria It's good you started to work early. Here are things to fix (no hurry, take your time - it is still early):
I noticed that your work is on the wrong Wikipedia (in English Wikipedia sandbox). If you are translating to Chinese or Korean, you need to move it to Chinese Wikipedia or Korean Wikipedia, respectively. Please use your Wikipedia sandbox on the correct Wikipedia and update me when your work is moved and ready for review on the correct platform.
Please carefully proofread your work. Poor translation quality resulting from not proofreading machine translation output is the most common error for articles to be rejected by the reviewers. When translating to E to Korean, read ko:위키백과:번역 and ko:위키백과:번역에 대한 조언.
Complete the translation by adding the remaining content and references. Remember that all paragraphs need to be referenced, otherwise they will not count for our project and may be deleted from Wikipedia (per our syllabus and Wikipedia:Verifiability).
Your article has very few blue links . Check whether all blue links are identical between your translation and the original article. Make sure you link to relevant articles in your target Wikipedia, not to other languages, when a relevant article exists. When a topic exists in another language than the one you are writing and results in a red link in your target Wikipedia article, you can use this tool to add a link to the original Wikipedia. On Korean, use ko:틀:임시링크. Stop by my office for help if you need a demonstration on how to use it. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 14:19, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2 (Week 2,3) Ju Yewon

I've finished weekly wiki-editing project for the "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".

I tried to add a reference as much as possible.

1) Wikipedia editing

2) Wikivoyage editing

I've edited more 5 times. On September 16, From Bundang to Saipan

Deadline 3 (Week5,6) Kim younggyun

[edit]

Dear Professor:

I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization (Class A)" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".

1) Media Trends and Globalization

These are 2 documents that I chose to translate into korean. I'm almost done with the translation and I've already got professor's confirmation.

2) Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki

I'm adding the contents of the Mokpo, which is the area I chose. Here is my diff link.[46]

In addition, I have a question about the class activities on September 20th. (Starting a new page) Is this activity separate from the main project of this class? Mokpo and Asan, which I chose, were already registered for wikivoyage, so there was no need to create a new page. If the areas I picked for the main project are already registered, I wonder if I don't need to find another unregistered area and create a new page. Just in case, I found a new area and created a new page.

I'm posting it as a link because I haven't been confirmed by professor during lecture. This is my sandbox link.[47] I created an area ('Hanam') in the sandbox that didn't exist before, and I added a map and some tourist attractions.

Thank you, --Kim younggyun (talk) 17:27, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kim younggyun Regarding the September 20th activity, if you created new pages for your main project entities, it counts for the assignment, but you can get extra credit if you do it correctly for other pages.
You can get extra credit if you improve the Hanam entry so that it can be published, as described in the assignment. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:02, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I still have a question. If I don't make a new page for my main projects 'Mokpo' and 'Asan', will I be deducted points? Can't I reinforce the existing contents of Asan and Mokpo without creating a new page?--Kim younggyun (talk) 09:34, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Kim younggyun No, you don't loose any points for not completing in-class activities for that class, don't worry. And yes, you can get points by improving existing articles too. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 11:44, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ZixuanHE Good, but make sure to complete the assignments. For example, Pingshan – Travel guide at Wikivoyage does not contain any listings.
Neither does Gongyi City – Travel guide at Wikivoyage. Such barebones, incomplete entries may be deleted from Wikivoyage as they are not very useful, and if they are deleted, they'll not count for extra credit.
As for your Wikipedia editing here, remember that all paragraphs need to be referenced, otherwise they will not count for our project and may be deleted from Wikipedia (per our syllabus and Wikipedia:Verifiability). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:06, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Kimminji0405 Good start, but as you likely have noticed, the Korean reviewer @Aspere declined your work due to translation issues. Please improve your work and ask them for a review when you are done. Here are some tips:
  • Please carefully proofread your work. Poor translation quality resulting from not proofreading machine translation output is the most common error for articles to be rejected by the reviewers. When translating to Korean, read ko:위키백과:번역 and ko:위키백과:번역에 대한 조언.
  • Check whether all blue links are identical between your translation and the original article. [edit]

Hello Professor,

I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".

1) Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)

As practice, I added a sentence to the 'Education in South Korea' page and included a source. For my main project, I translated the 'Parasocial interaction' page from English into Korean. You can see the process at [link]. Thank you. Hong Da Hyeon (talk) 14:56, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Hong Da Hyeon Good, but please double check your translation, a reviewer has expressed concern here.
Poor translation quality resulting from not proofreading machine translation output is the most common error for articles to be rejected by the reviewers. When translating to Korean, read ko:위키백과:번역 and ko:위키백과:번역에 대한 조언. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:32, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Following your advice, I have corrected the parts that seemed to be machine-translated. I would appreciate it if you could review it once more.
[link] Hong Da Hyeon (talk) 10:31, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hong Da Hyeon It seems the IP reviewer still has concerns. Unfortunately, it is very hard to communicate with people who don't log in, so you cannot feasibly ask them to elaborate on your concerns. Instead, please ask here for a reviewer to double check whether your submission language is fine: 위키백과:사용자 모임 - 위키백과 Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 11:35, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I revised it on my own prior to asking the reviewer, and it seems to be resolved. I would be grateful if you could kindly check. Hong Da Hyeon (talk) 11:16, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 1,2) Lee Hyewon

[edit]

Hello professor. I am a student of "Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki." I have completed my plan to edit article.

1) Media Trends and Globalization (Class B) -I want to translate Motorsport into korean. Korean version of it( 모터스포츠 )is much shorter than the english one and it looks like it needs more expansion. If it's considered out of topic of the class, I want to expand the article 사이버펑크 which was on Ideas for students page.

2) Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki -I want to work on Hwaseong. it doesn't include districts section and detailed understand section. also, it doesn't have Buy, Drink listings.

Thank you for checking. Puddisurfer (talk) 17:23, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Puddisurfer Motorsport is a good idea and it is approved, but for that class you will need to choose one more topic. It can be Cypherpunk or you can choose another topic related to your interest.
Hwaseong is already reasonably well developed. You are correct it can be expanded a bit, and you can do so for extra credit, but for a main project you should choose a much less developed location like Taebaek – Travel guide at Wikivoyage Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:50, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your advice! Then I'll choose 정보과다 too and work on Taebaek. Puddisurfer (talk) 07:42, 25 September 2025 (UTC) 07:40, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Puddisurfer Information overload is already sufficiently expanded in Korean; so cypherpunk would be better. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 11:31, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For Week 2–3, I have completed my blog assignment. Here is the link to my blog: [Cultural Globalization and Localization](https://globsoc2025.blogspot.com/2025/09/cultural-globalization-and-localization.html). This blog focuses on cultural globalization and localization, exploring how global cultural flows (such as media, music, and food) interact with local traditions, and how this interaction shapes identities in a globalized world.

Also, here is my Wikipedia user page with my introduction: User:lyujinshuo.

Deadline 2 (Week2,3) Choi Sangyeon

[edit]

Hello professor, I am taking two courses: Media Trends and Globalization and Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis. I've been looking for new topics

1. Media Trends and Globalization, I want to translate and add information Tongnip sinmun and Sunmudo into Korean.

2. Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis, I want to make Wirye New Town and I'm actually making this page myself right now.

Please check. Thank you Choi Sangyeon (talk) 02:08, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Choi Sangyeon Tongnip sinmun seems about as developed in Korean as in English; there is little to be gained from translating the mediocre article we have either way.. Similar with Sunmudo, both English and Korean arrticles are very poor and would need to be effectively written from scratch. I am afraid you need to choose higher quality existing article to translate.
Regarding Wirye New Town – Travel guide at Wikivoyage, I am a bit concerned here, as it is de facto a subdistrict (part of a district of Seoul). It is generally easier to write articles about towns/cities or districts of very large cities; an article about part of a district may be challenging, although it has been done (for example, for NYC). I'll ping a senior Wikivoyage expert for his opinion: @Ground Zero Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:57, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pinging me. I am also concerned about this article. I do not know Seoul, so I cannot comment. But I am wondering why these listings are not being added to Sepul/Songpa and Pangyo instead of creating a new article. Ground Zero | t 13:10, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Already, I was approved to translate one other article, so the professor told me to translate one more article. Suldongwoo (talk) 06:01, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Suldongwoo I am afraid I do not understand your message. In case I wasn't clear - the topics you proposed seem not important enough to merit being classified as a main topic for our project. @小太阳888 Safety of journalists and Aging of China have already been selected by other students, so I am afraid you need to choose different topics.
Ruzhou is a good topic but you need to create the entry in English (you linked to the Chinese version, which you can use to improve your English work). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 13:15, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2 - Kim nakyoung (김나경)

[edit]

Dear Professor I am taking [Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki] course.

I'm going to do the task(Deadline 2) by myself. I have selected the article Tattooing in Japan for my project. I plan to work on translating it in the Korean Wikipedia, as suggested in the "Ideas for students" list. Please let us know if this topic is acceptable.

Also I'd like to edit Jeju city on wikivoyage.

Thank you! --Njkcs888 (talk) 08:21, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Njkcs888 I am afraid Tattooing in Japan has been already reserved for another student, so you need to choose another topic and Jeju city is already well developed; you need to choose a location that is less developed, like Muan – Travel guide at Wikivoyage Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 13:54, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I choose anothor topic [[[China in the Korean War|China in the Korea War]]]. Is it possible?
And I decided to edit Muan - Travel guide at Wikivoyage
Please let me know if this topic is acceptable.
Thank you!
--Njkcs888 (talk) 00:41, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Njkcs888 Unfortunately, China in the Korean War has already been reserved for another student. Since for that class you need two topics anyway, if you are interested in military history, how about Impact of the Korean War on the economy of the United States and Repatriation of Cossacks after World War II? Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:01, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I will edit Impact of the Korean War on the economy of the United States and Repatriation of Cossacks after World War II.
Thank you Njkcs888 (talk) 05:39, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
PS. Muan is approved Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:02, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have updated my Dashboard profile and assigned the approved topics:
- Impact of the Korean War on the economy of the United States
- Repatriation of Cossacks after World War II
- Muan – Travel guide (Wikivoyage)
Thank you for your guidance!
Njkcs888 (talk) 05:46, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Njkcs888 Ok. I assume you want to translate them to Korean? Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:46, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 2,3) Kim Yewon

[edit]

Hello Professor,

I am a student of “Media Trends and Globalization”.

I want to translate these two documents into Korean: [of the Impossible|Physics of the Impossible], Lev Shestov

The Korean Wikipedia article is very underdeveloped, so I would like to create a new translation.

Please check. Thank you. Run0429 (talk) 09:51, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Run0429 The selected articles are already in Korean, you can translate them into the same language. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 13:56, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I modified it. Please check. Thank you! Run0429 (talk) 02:11, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Run0429 Good, Physics is approved as topic; unfortunately, Lev Shestov contains a lot of unreferenced content, and while it is better than what Korean wiki has, it is still too poor to translate - someone will have to do a lot of fixing. Please select an article that is well referenced. In the future, do not modify your older comments; just reply with an entirely new message. Deadline 4 (Week5,6) Kim younggyun

[edit]

Dear Professor:

I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization (Class A)" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".

I have some questions

1) Media Trends and Globalization

I received the invitation link from the professor and accepted it, and I wrote a post[55] about the first question. (What is Globalization)

Ouestons

  • 1. I wonder if I put the label correctly.
  • 2. If we look at the top left of the blog, we can see the people who are registered. But my name is not there. I got the link to the blog invitation, I can see other people's writings on it, and I even wrote them, but I don't know why I can't find my name. Maybe it's a technical error. I wonder if I can check my blog post properly on professor's computer. If I do, do I need to worry about it when calculating grades?

Thank you, --Kim younggyun (talk) 10:42, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ttkx11 The reference you added is unnecessary, as the part you added it to already has a reference. You should add a reference to an unreferenced part of article's body (not its lead). Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:52, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Chensiyu2004 For Chunxi Road, please find a reference that confirms all the content in the article, namely, that it "was originally proposed by the warlord Yang Sen in 1924", and add it to the end of the sentence, once you find a reference that confirms all facts in that sentence.
Your second reference is useless - it does not reference anything except the name of the entity, which is not in question - and has been removed. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 12:56, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Professor, I have re-added the quotation about Chunxi Road, which is related to the following. Please help me recheck it. Thank you. Chensiyu2004 (talk) 01:51, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Chensiyu2004 Your reference needs to be added outside WP:LEAD to the end of an unreferenced sentence, confirming facts mentioned in it. It is not very useful to add a reference to the name of an entity in most cases. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 01:33, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Remember that all sentences added to Wikipedia need to be referenced, otherwise they will not count for our project or extra credit and may be deleted from Wikipedia (per our syllabus and Wikipedia:Verifiability). All references need to verifiable (include a working URL). Remember also that adding unreferenced content generated by AI is likely to result in a block from editing Wikipedia and may result in failing of our course. Hello professor, I am a student of Media Trends and Globalization / Understanding Small and Big Data with Wikis. ( class B )

1) Media Trends and Globalization: This class, I chose to complete all the tasks on my own. I want to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aging_of_China into Chinese.

2) Understanding Small and Big Data through Wikis: This course, I will co-edit this Wikipedia travel article with Hong Jiaran.

3)I have added a new reference to this article.

Please check it. Thank you. 유신예 (talk) 06:40, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Media Trends and Globalization: This class, I chose to complete all the tasks on my own.I chose to translate this article into Chinese. 유신예 (talk) 06:46, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@유신예 You need to talk to me during class or office hours, as your name does not appear to be in our student spreadsheet, so I cannot record your choices. Aging of China has already been chosen by another student, and for that class, you need to choose two, not one, topic anyway.
Xishuangbanna is approved as a group project
Your reference is technically sound but you should add a reference to the end of an unreferenced paragraph, not to one that is already referenced. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:01, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Professor — I would like to kindly report the topics I have been working on for the wiki assignments and request your confirmation:

Deadline 2 / Week 2–3 I have prepared two topics for creation/expansion in English and would appreciate your approval:

  1. Aging of China (short description: demographic trends and aging population)
  2. Aging of Russia (short description: demographic trends and aging population)

Dashboard assignment: Hanyang University Media Trends and Globalization (2025)

Deadline 3 / Week 3–4 I have added an inline citation to support content in the article Zhao Hong Wenguo and updated the Blog post.

I would be grateful if you could kindly confirm — thank you. — Lyujinshuo Lyujinshuo (talk) 10:10, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Lyujinshuo I am afraid both Aging of Russia and China have been reserved for others already. How about these instead: Ageing of Australia and Ageing of the United Kingdom? Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:05, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Lyujinshuo Regarding your reference, please make sure your references that are not originally in English (Korean, Chinese, etc.) have both the original title (under title parameter) and translated one (English, under translated title parameter).
It is good that you revised your blog. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:06, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 4: TRAN THUY NGA (짠 튀 응아)

[edit]

Hello Professor, I am TRAN THUY NGA (짠 튀 응아). I am a student of 'Media Trends and Globalization' (Class B). I’m currently translating the text and still in the process of improving my translation. This is first draft of the article I'm translating.[63] The references I included so far are just brief notes to show which sources I plan to use. I will revise them further to make the work more complete. Please check it. Thank you! Nameun (talk) 13:28, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Nameun Good job, your draft is developing well. Here are some tips on how to improve it:
  • Please carefully proofread your work. Poor translation quality resulting from not proofreading machine translation output is the most common error for articles to be rejected by the reviewers. When translating to Vietnamese, read Wikipedia:Biên dịch – Wikipedia tiếng Việt
  • Your article has very few blue links . On Vietnamese, use Bản mẫu:interlanguage link – Wikipedia tiếng Việt. Stop by my office for help if you need a demonstration on how to use it.

Deadline 4 Jeong GiYoung

[edit]

Dear Professor:

I am taking two courses, "Media Trends and Globalization (Class B)" and "Understanding Small and Big Data through Wiki".

I translated one Wikipedia document I was in charge of for the first time. There was no Korean document before, and I added the contents of the document from the beginning to complete it. After I get confirmation from the professor if there is anything more to add or modify, I plan to revise the document and proceed with the second document.

Here is the link to the document.[66]

This is an existing English document.[67]--Jeong GiYoung (talk) 15:50, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeong GiYoung Good progress. Here is some feedback:
Please carefully proofread your work. Poor translation quality resulting from not proofreading machine translation output is the most common error for articles to be rejected by the reviewers. When translating to Korean, read ko:위키백과:번역 and ko:위키백과:번역에 대한 조언.
Your article has very few blue links ).
When you publish your article in Korean, please add ko:틀:과제 문서 to its talk page.
Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 02:14, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
