Welcome
[edit]
Hello, Firstpenguin44! Welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you are here to participate in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we highly encourage you to go through our training page that's specifically created and catered for students such as yourself:
If you need help, check out Wikipedia's page for questions. You can also ask me by visiting my user talk page and leaving a message, or you can ask your question on this page by editing it and placing {{Help me}} before your question. Please make sure that you sign your messages on discussion pages, which is done by entering four tildes (~~~~) at the very end of it; this will automatically insert your username and the date. I also highly recommend that you review the advice for students page.
Before you create an article, make sure that you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one, please tell your instructor about creating one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know that the article is a subject of an educational assignment as well as aid your communication with them.
Here are some more pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page (editing policy)
- Introduction to Wikipedia
- Help pages index
- Visual editor tutorial
- Wikitext tutorial (if you're choosing to edit pages using the Wikitext source code instead of the VisualEditor)
- Wikitext cheatsheet
While editing:
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Be bold, but do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- Provide reliable sources to the content you add. If you are adding biomedical information, please follow this guideline.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay with us as a member of the community - even after your assignment is finished. Your time, energy, and your contributions will be highly valued and appreciated among us.

[edit]Please do not use large language models to generate content for Wikipedia, your edit to Cat added a reference to a non-existent journal article and was utterly bogus. Traumnovelle (talk) 02:19, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Traumnovelle Can you take a second look? See https://www.science.org/content/article/news-glance-long-lasting-hiv-prevention-new-neutrino-detector-and-rescuing-scientists which contains a subheading with that very title ("How a cat is like a (furry) pancake"). The students were working in class with physical copies of the magazines, including science Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 05:09, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- That doesn't explain the non-existent volume and issue number. Traumnovelle (talk) 06:07, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Traumnovelle "non-existent volume": I see in the diff volume = 385 issue = 675. And at the link I provided, "A version of this story appeared in Science, Vol 385, Issue 6715.". It does seem the student made a typo skipping one number from the 4-digit issue number, that's all.
- Look, just accept a "WP:TROUT here, will ya :) Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 14:14, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- I see I was wrong, I did look up both the title and issue and could not find anything. Traumnovelle (talk) 19:47, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Firstpenguin44 I apologise for the erroneous accusation. Traumnovelle (talk) 19:51, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
