What about this?

[edit]

If I were to get this page, Imjin War, to become a good article, what would you give me? Floating Orb (talk) 01:18, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For others reading, context: WP:REWARD#Top importance WikiProject Korea articles. I'm offering a monetary reward for people who get important Korea-related articles to GA or higher.
I'd offer $150. Reasoning for not offering more: there's a large amount of English-language information on this war, it's on a topic that already interests many people, and article already has a good amount of quality sourcing and information. seefooddiet (talk) 01:31, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. What about Park Chung Hee? Floating Orb (talk) 01:34, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Tentatively $200, possibly more. I know for sure there's a good amount of important information on him that's not available in English. But there's a good amount of quality information on him in English as well, probably enough for most foreign readers, so it's probably still doable. seefooddiet (talk) 01:36, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What about this one: Juche and this one: Kim Il Sung University. Floating Orb (talk) 01:40, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No reward for either; per terms of my original post, I exclude NK topics because they have a good amount of coverage already. seefooddiet (talk) 01:46, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Could you give me one that would be the one you would give the most for? Floating Orb (talk) 01:47, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can you speak Korean? Reward higher for topics where information is often unavailable in English but topic is important seefooddiet (talk) 02:09, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I can translate it. Floating Orb (talk) 02:18, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd recommend you pick something you're interested in rather than seeking to maximize payout seefooddiet (talk) 03:51, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I'll do Park Chung Hee. Floating Orb (talk) 03:52, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It seems like you're a newer editor; I'd recommend trying to get some other easier article on a less major topic up to GA level first before trying to take this on. Higher importance articles are generally harder to get to GA.
If you're a newer editor, I'd recommend you exercise caution when editing Park's article. Not an easy task. He's one of the most difficult people in the world to write on; extremely complicated legacy. I struggled while writing my portion of his article. seefooddiet (talk) 03:53, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. Floating Orb (talk) 03:55, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In other words, I'd like to see you get a low/medium importance article up to GA first. Park is arguably one of the most important South Koreans in history; I'd rather someone more experienced take that article on. seefooddiet (talk) 03:56, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What about Imjin War? Floating Orb (talk) 03:57, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I could do that. Floating Orb (talk) 03:57, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, you could try working on that. It's still top importance but it's easier to work on I think. seefooddiet (talk) 03:58, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Floating Orb (talk) 03:58, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I saw the page Changdeokgung and I saw that Injeongjeon image is actually Geunjongjeon. I know that because of the doors, Injeongjeon has yellow while Geunjongjeon has the standard green doors. I hope this gives you good info. Bye!좋은 하루 보내세요! May 2025 qustion

[edit]

Greetings. I would like to ask what the recommended procedure is when encountering vandalism. Am I allowed to warn the user directly, or should I report the incident to an administrator instead?" Anya m2010 (talk) 19:16, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on a number of factors. WP:RVAN explains it better than I could. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 19:21, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay,thanks a lot 🙏🏻🌸 Anya m2010 (talk) 19:40, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And this guy is falsely accusing someone of vandalism, even after I explained why my edit is legitimate. They also used the tactic of adding extra spaces to intentionally make their edits not be tagged as "manual revert". 172.56.232.154 (talk) 07:55, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Happened again and again. Yeah, it is obvious that this guy is picking a fight with me. 172.56.232.154 (talk) 11:15, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello IP 172.56.232.154 user
I didn't intend to bring this up at all, but some misunderstandings have made me feel the need to say this.
Based on your edits, I realize you are not inexperienced.
1. You have made over 200 useful edits
2. You know how to add links properly,
3. And you also commented on the manual Rollback I performed.
4.and more....
I mention this to clarify and prove these points.
Therefore, I assume you have had an account before, or if you don't, I recommend creating one because users like you are truly valuable to Wikipedia.
Also, my Rollback were mostly tests to help prove these matters. I hope you understand me ...
Thank you Anya m2010 21:47, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They've made many more than 200, I think they've made at least several thousand, possibly over 10,000, on various IP addresses. They prefer not to make an account. I'm pretty familiar with this IP user; they've been extremely helpful to us. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 21:52, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OMG, really? That's quite
surprising. If I had such a capability i certainly wouldn't have missed the opportunity to create an account.😵‍💫
Honestly, making thousands of edits as an IP user must be extremely challenging.
Thank you for informing me🙂 Anya m2010 22:25, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Letter to Yi Ŭngt'ae

[edit]

On 23 May 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Letter to Yi Ŭngt'ae, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a 1586 letter from a grieving pregnant widow to her deceased husband became a sensation in South Korea after it was rediscovered in 1998? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Letter to Yi Ŭngt'ae. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Letter to Yi Ŭngt'ae), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Date format in Chŏng Munbu

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for your attention to the Chŏng Munbu article. I'd like to address the recent edits regarding the date format. This article primarily uses the Gregorian calendar (solar calendar) for dates. In cases where only the month is known and an exact conversion is not possible, the date has been written following the MOS:KO-CALENDAR format. Therefore, unless a date is clearly marked in accordance with the MOS:KO-CALENDAR format for lunar dates, please assume it refers to the Gregorian calendar. Thank you again! Fbgpwns5277 (talk) 18:57, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for writing it 🙂 just had the GA review open to start as soon as you sent this message. I'll post response there grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 19:09, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Fbgpwns5277 also just a note; I'll be heavily editing both the article and the review for the next hour or so, so I'd recommend refraining from editing either page except for if you're strongly opposed to anything.
I hope you don't mind my edits or feedback; everything is subjective and I don't take offense to if you disagree with anything, so feel free to yell at me if I do wrong (joke). grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 19:30, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I had converted the lunar dates found in the sources into Gregorian dates using the converter provided in Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea, and then applied the MOS:DATEFORMAT. So, your edit applied MOS:KO-CALENDAR format to what are actually Gregorian dates. Fbgpwns5277 (talk) 20:51, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah shoot. The date converter recommended at WP:KO we determined is probably unreliable for historical studies. See this comment [1] (the full discussion may also be of interest to you). I forgot to remove the converter from our recommended tools list; I just did so. At present we don't know of any tools that are considered reliable for date conversion for historical sources. Could you go through and restore the original lunar dates after I'm done with first revision? grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 20:57, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I wasn’t aware that such a discussion had taken place. Please let me know once the copyediting is complete—I'll make the revsions right away. Fbgpwns5277 (talk) 21:04, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Fbgpwns5277 Also if you want, you can nominate Yun T'akyŏn for GA as well; think that has a good shot. The dates there will probably need to be fixed; I assume you used KASI for that as well grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 00:07, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

On 26 May 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Keijō nippō, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. W/r/t the file name, that edit was made through WP:AWB; there's unfortunately no way to preview rendered output in AWB. I appreciate you catching the error. While using AWB, my script sometimes makes hundreds of changes on a single page, so it's often easy for me to miss single mistakes like that. But my success rate is very high; I've made probably tens of thousands of AWB edits and have only gotten maybe 5 comments pointing out mistakes. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 06:11, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is in fact a Preview button in AWB. Anyway, here's another broken diff I've fixed. Izno (talk) 07:05, 29 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
