You may be wondering why my archives only start at August 2007. The reason: I didn't archive my pages before that date, I merely deleted them (as I didn't know how to archive). Therefore, if anyone wishes to see material before August 2007? check out this talkpage's 'history'.

You did something you said you wouldn't do

[edit]

I had a vague memory that triggered while reading through the ongoing JK Rowling RfC, so I went back and checked. As part of your successful appeal of your GENSEX TBAN last year, an editor was concerned that you would rejoin the topic area with "short, terse, and at best tangentially related borderline forum style comments". In response, you stated that you weren't interested in joining any "(potentially) heated discussions" in the topic area, and you specifically mentioned avoid JK Rowling discussions. But now you've made a tangentially related short comment at a heated JK Rowling RfC. The appeal was granted as a "second chance", so it's deeply concerning to me that you're returning to old problematic conduct in this area and breaking promises you made in your appeal. @Firefangledfeathers:, I'll withdraw from the RFC, without giving a reason why. GoodDay (talk) 19:00, 15 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Firefangledfeathers:, It appears the RFC-in-question has closed, as I figured it should have. Perhaps my not participating, brings about the results I'd favour? Anyways. GoodDay (talk) 20:35, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"restoring status quo" is not a justification for re-adding content in an edit war

[edit]

Hi GoodDay, regarding the recent edits at Romance (love), please don't do that. Administrators can restore a pre-edit-war revision (WP:PREFER) when protecting a page, but that's about it. Participating in an edit war for the sole reason of the edit war's existence is disruptive. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 10:23, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Very well, @ToBeFree:. Deal with the editor-warrior, the best way you see fit. GoodDay (talk) 18:29, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Monarchy of Australia

[edit]

Hello GoodDay, I see that you have reverted my edit on the page Monarchy of Australia, your reasoning being that the old list was apparently "more accurate", I have made a post on the talk page explaining my change and my reasoning for making it, could you please explain your reasoning for reverting my edit when you get a chance? The post is here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Monarchy_of_Australia#List_of_Monarchs_Table

Thanks, 2204happy (talk) 03:53, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your post there is way too long, fwiw. GoodDay (talk) 03:54, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Are you going to respond to it? 2204happy (talk) 03:57, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have, but I recommend you compress your posts, in future. GoodDay (talk) 03:59, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@2204happy: AFAIK, the Monarchy of the United Kingdom doesn't have a list of monarchs. Would you consider proposing deleting governors-general & prime ministers from the list of all the non-UK commonwealth realm monarchy pages? GoodDay (talk) 04:08, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think it can be justified in other realms, but for Australia, the Governor-General is specifically the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia (i.e the federal level), with each state Governor being appointed directly by the King, it is thus hard to justify having the Governors-General listed but not the state Governors, having all seven would of course be too much. 2204happy (talk) 04:11, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd support deletion of all governors-general, governors (Australia), lieutenant governors (Canada), prime ministers, etc. Having just the monarchs, would suffice. GoodDay (talk) 04:15, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That was a personal attack on me, yet it should be removed. BZPN (talk) 15:41, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You can respond to the other editor's post. But, you shouldn't 'strike it out'. GoodDay (talk) 15:42, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

G'day GoodDay

Remember it's verifiability, not truth. Phil Bridger (talk) 19:30, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Phil Bridger: I just think folks should give it a few days & let the dust settle. Though I must admit, the IP at Andrew's RM, has got me re-thinking about the article title, when considering Camillia's from 2005 to 2022. GoodDay (talk) 19:32, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I'm all for letting the dust settle first. This is an encyclopedia, not a breaking news site. Phil Bridger (talk) 19:47, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
True :) GoodDay (talk) 19:48, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Phil Bridger:, I think I'll give up (editing wise) on the Andrew related pages, for a while. Too difficult to bail out a ship, that continues to sink. GoodDay (talk) 20:52, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your question

[edit]

I was trying to write a response to your question on my talk page. My wife asked me to go and do some things for her. Once I got back I tried to post the response. I got a message that said the question had been removed from my talk page. I was not ignoring you. Things happen, so it is not always possible to respond in a quick manner. I am sorry for not responding to you sooner. My understanding was that the restrictions on CfD applied to doing anything at the CfD page, but did not apply to making any edits that did not end up on the CfD page. That is how I understood the restriction.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:12, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnpacklambert: Appreciate the explanation. This enforces my opinion that your aforementioned restrictions should be lifted. GoodDay (talk) 18:15, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
