Revoking your autopatrolled user-right

[edit]

Hey, I've been looking at a few of your recent articles, and creations like Aurora Store, RISC-V ecosystem, Ed Calderon and Cockpit (software) do not meet the high bar for the autopatrolled userright. I can understand that you are creating these articles in good faith, and want to increase Wikipedia's coverage of FOSS software, but the current expectations from article creators who have the auto-patrolled user-right are that their articles have enough reliable references to clearly demonstrate that they are notable. None of the articles I linked do that. As a result, I'm revoking your autopatrolled userright so that the articles that you create get atleast a once-over by another member of the new page patrol folks (who can then identify issues and apply tags that you can fix). (also cc @HJ Mitchell who originally granted you the userright back in 2011) Sohom (talk) 03:10, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Aurora Store has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Software that doesn't meet requirements for GNG and has no sources other than a link to the gitlab with the files. I searched and couldn't find any reviews or other in-depth articles about it. I did find brief mentions in 2023 issues of Linux Format but not enough to support notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Perhaps it is notable that is included in Android distributions such as CalyxOS and iodéOS, both of which have articles on Wikipedia? Frap (talk) 12:42, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've noticed that you've flagged the article of Oxagon (Neom) for deletion discussion, but the talk page of the article is empty. Could you please explain the reason for marking the article? Ravan (talk) 11:27, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you're mistaken, I did not nominate the article for deletion. I contributed to the article. User:REAL MOUSE IRL nominated the article for the deletion. -- Frap (talk) 11:38, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Partiful

[edit]

Hi Frap, I have a few suggestions for the Partiful article. I see that you have an interest in technology, so I hope you'll be willing to take a look here. Thanks so much! Lucas285 (talk) 14:55, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the suggestions to the article. -- Frap (talk) 15:54, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Frap, thank you for your help with this!
I have a few more suggestions for additions to the article. Would you please consider adding the following to the History section?
The awards can either go next to the Google award, which is mentioned in the History section, or perhaps all of the awards could be put in a separate "Awards and recognition" section. Thanks for taking the time to review this, I appreciate your help, Lucas285 (talk) 17:09, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I added it to the article. Frap (talk) 21:19, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Frap, I suggested one more update to Partiful's article. This is the post: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Partiful#History_section_update. I hope you can review it. Thanks for your help! Lucas285 (talk) 13:57, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Templates without review

[edit]

Hi, I’ve noticed you’ve been adding deletion templates for various articles, suggesting they were generated by AI. I’d just encourage a bit more caution with this, and to check first whether the articles might be translations from other languages and whether they meet English Wikipedia’s criteria. For example, in the case of the Virtual Police Station article, it is a straightforward piece I originally wrote in Spanish in 2020, well before AI tools became widespread. It gives a brief historical overview of the service, describes its origins and features, and lists the services provided. I am aware of the issues AI-generated content can pose, so I would not rely on such tools to create an article for me. Thanks for your understanding, and I appreciate the work you do to help keep Wikipedia accurate and reliable. Igallards7 (talk) 16:27, 13 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the encouragement to be more cautious about this. I removed the PROD from Virtual Police Station. Frap (talk) 16:43, 13 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Alleged Use of AI in the Hands of Necromancy Article

[edit]

Hi Frap, I hope you’re doing well.

I’m writing regarding your reference to a possible use of AI in the Hands of Necromancy article I published today. This is a serious accusation and without basis. However, if you believe this to be the case, I kindly invite you to use the article’s Talk Page to present your arguments.

English is my second language, and I usually write in Spanish and then translate it using Google Translate. This may sometimes result in English that sounds less “natural,” but I have never used AI under any circumstances. If you feel that the English quality could be improved, I encourage you to edit and enhance the wording.

Kind regards, and thank you for your consideration. Sergeant Batou (talk) 12:10, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My basis for tagging the article as AI generated is that I find it suspicious that the title given in the cite template is different from the title in the actual cited source. The article cites the title as "Hands Of Necromancy 2: 8 Beginner Tips" but when vising the article the actual title is "Tips And Tricks For Beginners In Hands Of Necromancy 2". Another reference have the title in the template "This new boomer shooter sequel is the Hexen to its predecessor's Heretic" while the actual title is "New retro FPS Hands of Necromancy 2 looks to Heretic for inspiration". The article is suspicious. -- Frap (talk) 12:26, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I’m a bit confused about this, to be honest. Are you referring to the titles of the sources? I usually use the “generate source automatically function, and Wikipedia fills in those fields. Regarding the article template in general, I reused part of the code from an older article, updating the relevant fields.
By the way, I noticed on your Talk Page that you previously had a similar discussion about alleged AI use with another user, also a Spanish speaker like myself. I’m not aware of whether using Google Translate to help with English writing is against Wikipedia’s rules, but I do admit I use it regularly. In any case, I invite you to help me improve the article wherever you think it’s necessary. Thanks. Sergeant Batou (talk) 12:35, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am a referring to the titles of the sources. I now used the "generate souce automatically function" and can confirm that it does indeed generate the title you got, which was unexpected to me since those words were not in the title of the page or mentioned anywhere on the page. When viewing the source of the page I can see that title is in the og:title. I was wrong about the titles of the sources. When pasting the two paragraphs from under the Gameplay title into https://app.gptzero.me/ the AI-detector tools claim that is is 100% AI-generated. -- Frap (talk) 12:44, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Now I understand what you mean. I’ve just reviewed it, updated it, and mentioned you so there’s a clear record of the change. Thanks for pointing it out. If you notice any expressions that sound a bit robotic or unnatural in English, and if you are a native English speaker, please take your time to review the article — I would greatly appreciate it.
I’m sorry to say that I don’t agree with you regarding the use of AI — let’s agree to disagree. However, if we consider that a large part of the article was originally written in Spanish and then translated using Google Translate (which, if I’m not mistaken, is AI powered), then we could have a debate about AI. Being constructive, why we don't simply work together on improving the wording? I think that would be the most efficient and productive approach. Thanks. Dev Null Productions moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Dev Null Productions. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Mekomo (talk) 04:51, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
