This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. Hi! Can I have feedback on the article and understand how it is being flagged for being an advertisement? I have done by best to add sources and use neutral language.. Echolime3 (talk) 20:31, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Echolime3.
A few things that are promotional:
> preserved much of the original design to honor the legacy of the Poʻipū Beach Hotel
> The resort's name, Koʻa Kea—meaning “white coral” in Hawaiian—symbolizes renewal and rejuvenation
> which celebrates local cuisine and supports Kauaʻi Community College’s Culinary Arts Program
Then I am not entirely sure the sources actually show how this resort meets Wikipedia:Notability. We'd generally like to see three really strong sources that are each from reliable, mainstream publications, provide significant independent coverage of the resort. Things like Hawaii national newspapers that talk/review the resort, or mainstream travel magazines that talk/review it. qcne (talk) 20:33, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the quick response! Am I able to send you a draft reflecting those edits to review before resubmitting? Sorry, new to Wikipedia, still learning Echolime3 (talk) 20:36, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to edit your draft at Draft:Koʻa Kea Resort and then ping me and I'll take a look before you submit for review.
I have just noticed there is Draft:Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipū Beach which seems to be the same topic written by a different editor, but at the same time as yours. It's also almost the exact same content, but expanded. Is this a class project? Are you (and the other editor?) employed by the resort and have been asked to write this article? It's strange for two drafts about a fairly niche topic to be created at the same time with similar content by two different editors! qcne (talk) 20:40, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Do I just ping you through this chat?
Yes it is myself and another editor.. unfortunately that editor is no longer on this project and I do not have access to that account, only the drafts they created with Microsoft Word so I created a new account. Echolime3 (talk) 20:43, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, ping me here. Drafts can be edited by anyone. I would be inclined to edit Draft:Koʻa Kea Resort on Poʻipū Beach as it is has better sources, though still has some tone issues. Are you (and the other editor) employed by the resort? qcne (talk) 20:45, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Got it! We are not employed directly by the resort but by the company that owns it. Echolime3 (talk) 20:51, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright - you need to declare this as part of the Wikipedia Terms and Conditions. It doesn't prevent you from working on the draft but it's really important.
Please go to your Userpage and write something like I am declaring my conflict of interest as I am employed by Pacific Hospitality Group and have been asked to work on the Koʻa Kea Resort draft. then click Publish page.
Then, carefully read the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest policies. qcne (talk) 20:55, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Working on adding to the userpage.. I had to ask admin to update because I wasnt able to edit.
Can you please review this draft https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Ko%CA%BBa_Kea_Resort_on_Po%CA%BBip%C5%AB_Beach&oldid=1302508453 in the meantime? Echolime3 (talk) 21:30, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, sorry, I got the link wrong on your userpage which is maybe why you couldn't edit it. Echolime3 here is the correct link. Click Create Source. qcne (talk) 21:32, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the draft:
I actually think you can put back the CNTraveler, Forbes, and Robb Report sources. These are pretty good sources.
You can remove the prnewswire source. The bit about the hurricane is likely irrelevant so can be removed. qcne (talk) 21:35, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I updated my userpage!
Are you suggesting to leave in the information regarding the recognition of the property? Echolime3 (talk) 21:38, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I updated with the links, added a small blurb about the awards and then removed some of the filler about the hurricane. Do you mind looking over it again? Echolime3 (talk) 22:25, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed some more promotional fluff from the draft. I am still not quite sure the draft meets Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), but you can re-submit and see what reviewers think. qcne (talk) 12:35, 26 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Really appreciate all of your help :) Echolime3 (talk) 19:04, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
