A mistake

[edit]

Hi, just want to mention a mistake you made while creating the article about Ta'al MK Said.

His name is Samir bin Said (سمير بن سعيد), not Samir Abu Said (سمير أبو سعيد), The Hebrew article is סמיר בן סעיד which includes more info. אקסינו (talk) 13:30, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I did notice that his name on the Knesset website was listed as "Sameer bin Said", as well [1]. The Times of Israel articles must have been mistaken.
I'll go ahead and move it. David O. Johnson (talk) 13:55, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

hello, my edition [[2]] was reverted. The reasoning was that the English site was considered less biased. The problem is that even in this situation it is still biased to a certain extent and unreliable to a certain extent. First, it is an interpretation of the site and not a factual report. That is, there is an opinion component. Second, as written, the Qatari government's support for the current Syrian regime (and other reasons) creates the same bias that was noted in relation to the site.--שמי (2023) (talk) 12:31, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ahmed Jaafar moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ahmed Jaafar, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Asking for Thoughts on an Article

[edit]

Hello. I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on the article that I'm setting up, Endorsements in the 1976 Democratic presidential primaries. I'm experimenting with the Endorsement Boxes, specifically in the Jimmy Carter section at the moment; I wanted to see how the lists would be like broken into smaller lists specific to their area, when they were in columns of different widths, and if I had a Box within a Box (for Former Office-holders). I don't want to proceed any farther with the Article until a format is decided given, if I were to go and adopt any of the changes, I'd have to convert everything additional. If not, do you know who I might be able to reach out too? Ariostos (talk) 13:37, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, sorry. David O. Johnson (talk) 18:55, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Conflict

[edit]

Hey, sorry about that edit conflict. Didn't realize you were adding the video, too. Decided on a more neutral description for now for it; feel free to change it as you see fit. Thanks for all your help! Javert2113 (Siarad.|¤) 03:07, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that was me; I just adjusted wording in my most recent edit. I'm sure there will be a bunch of edit conflicts in the coming hours (but hopefully not too many). David O. Johnson (talk) 03:11, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. But I'm off for the night. Javert2113 (Siarad.|¤) 03:17, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

National Front Coalition (Egypt)

[edit]

Hi David. Can I take you back ten years? I'm confused about the redirect National Front Coalition (Egypt), which was the former name of the page Egyptian Wafd Alliance and so redirects there. But the redirect seems to be confused with National Front Alliance (Egypt) where I think it should target? The original source appears to be dead. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 08:14, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I had to look it up, since I didn't remember the details. Lol.
National Front Coalition was an early name for the Egyptian Wafd Alliance.
[3].
I think I'll add some info later on its previous names, just so it makes a little more sense to the reader. David O. Johnson (talk) 10:45, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yashar

[edit]

Thanks for your improvements to the page. I should have moved the refs after expanding the article. I was wondering why you changed the ref names. I always use surnames of the primary author as they tend to be distinct. Others use numbers, which are confusing. I am not opposed to it, but wanted to know your reasoning. Have a good day. Metallurgist (talk) 22:58, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I just used the website and date so the source is clearer when looking at the wikicode.
Also, it would avoid any issues in the future, if additional articles were written by that same author and we were still using just the author info as part of the ref name.
Hope it's helpful. David O. Johnson (talk) 23:05, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fair points. I might start doing that. Ive had a few articles with the same author in multiple sources that I had to either date or number. Cant recall. Metallurgist (talk) 03:30, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for holding down the fort. I have requested page protection due to the continued vandalism. Metallurgist (talk) 04:51, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake

[edit]

Hi, I saw you uploaded the Al-Jabal Brigade logo, but if you notice the logo is outdated, because it has the flag of Ba'athist Syria, the current logo is this, I'm just letting you know in case you want to change the title to (2017-2024) or update the image, greetings. Farcazo (talk) 20:27, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I didn't realize they had a new logo.
Thanks for letting me know. David O. Johnson (talk) 00:19, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
