Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Oblivy (talk) 23:21, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

When creating inline citations you should try to use citation templates. Click the double-quotation button on the edit toolbar see WP:INTREF3 for a wizard. So, for example, the citation for one of your citations would be:
<ref>{{Cite web |last=Klubikon |date=2025-02-28 |title=PREMIERE: Barbara+Marco - Playtime |url=https://klubikon.com/2025/02/28/premiere-barbara-marco-playtime/ |access-date=2025-09-07 |website=Klubikon |language=hr}}</ref>
Which becomes:
Klubikon (2025-02-28). "PREMIERE: Barbara+Marco - Playtime". Klubikon (in Croatian). Retrieved 2025-09-07.
You can reuse references too, either copy and paste the number (visual editor) or use <ref name="Klubikon">...<ref> for the first one and later <ref name="Klubikon" /> Oblivy (talk) 23:33, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment, Hi there @Adrian.stewart.music:. I have voted with a possible keep but also a request to redirect to The Passions if it comes up to delete the article. That way the history can be preserved, and it can be reactivated later on. You might like to consider posing a comment as a request to the closing admin that if the consensus leans towards a delete, then could it be redirected instead to preserve the history. I do hope the article gets saved with a keep consensus. Cheers Karl Twist (talk) 10:47, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. This would a good alternative to deletion and will preserve the history even if the article is deleted. If you want to argue for keep I suggest you find policy based reasons to keep it rather than arguing how important she is or that other acts have articles, as these arguments are usually dismissed outright in favor of sources, sources, and reliable sources. It's unfortunate this article ended up at Articles-for-Deletion so quickly but now that it's there you have to play the game by its rules.
I'll give my vote some thought. If you can improve the inline citations and remove things like Discogs in favor of bettter sources, it may give a better impression. Oblivy (talk) 13:09, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I have received a message that Wikipedia has blocked me from editing, so I will not be allowed to participate I guess. Thanks again, Adrian 2603:7000:9700:325:19AD:9143:FC6D:4344 (talk) 15:23, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ps I have no idea why...did I do something bad here? If so, well...I was a newby and I don't know what faux pas or trespass I may have caused in creating the article, but thank you very much for your guidance. Best, Adrian 2603:7000:9700:325:19AD:9143:FC6D:4344 (talk) 15:24, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is no evidence you were blocked. This may be some kind of misunderstanding but as @UndercoverClassicist said at their talk page this could be something like an IP address being blocked (esp. possible if you use a public wifi or VPN) Oblivy (talk) 00:56, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I appreciate this guidance! I will post a comment / request to the closing admin, as you suggested. I appreciate your hope that it is kept! Cheers, Adrian Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 15:11, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Signing off and out - Wikipedia is not a place for women to contribute or be written about

[edit]

Hello, just noting I tried and felt once again pushed out by men from a gatekeeping system. My argumentation was not flowery, but this sexist and coded language should be seen for what it is. Wikipedia talks about wanting more equity, but I think that it just wants to hold on to that message. I see no real change on its horizon, sadly. Ciao, AdrianAdrian.stewart.music (talk) 17:57, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Sorry, but this just isn't true. You created an article without fully understanding the policies and procedures of Wikipedia and that first attempt (and your attempt to explain it at AfD) has been somewhat of a failure for a variety of reasons. Get back on your horse and try again, or don't, but don't blame gatekeeping. Oblivy (talk) 00:59, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You’re right. Please accept my sincere apologies. I am learning from this experience. I hope to return in a month and be able to participate (temporarily I’ve been blocked from editing). Sorry again for making assumptions and being on the defensive. Thank you
for your guidance
.
Best, Adrian Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 18:14, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. You don't even know the gender of the people who have participated in the AfD thus far. The issue is essentially that of WP:NOTABILITY, specifically WP:NSINGER, and the problem is finding enough reliable sources that are substantial mentions of the subject, not just passing mentions or articles about The Passions. Members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability.
FWIW, I think you're probably nearly there. Did Wheels/Ruedas chart anywhere? And what are the 2021 works? BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 16:58, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. I am indebted to your frankness and helpful guidance. I hope to participate again once a temporary block has been removed from my article-writing. Good intentions, but I guess I made some faux pas and I am learning. Thank you. On another note
, your encouragement regarding the article is uplifting. Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 18:16, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
ps I shall try to find out if Wheels/Ruedas received any credible outside recognition or charted anywhere.
If I find something worthy of a reference, I’ll come back here to share it with you. Take care. A. Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 18:22, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Same with the 2021 works. Maybe I can even reach out to the artist though I hate to intrude. Or perhaps I can look more deeply on her bandcamp site for any information on 2021. I was looking more deeply into the possibility perhaps an Italian news or review is in existence for 2021 or, more likely 2022 (I think they played there then?) more soon if I dig up good things. Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 18:25, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good stuff, just be aware of the no original research rule; contacting the artist would likely be a breach of that. We need to rely on independent, reliable sources. You have a lot now listed below; if they are about Gogan rather than The Passions, and can be included, then I'd say you're good. I'm convinced, anyway. (Just on the block thing, I can't edit when I'm using a VPN, it may be something like that?) BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 17:22, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Wonderful! I will definitely refrain from contacting the artist then! (Too shy anyway! Lol)... Also, thank you so much for the guidance on the VPN too. I think I may have it figured out now. I turned of iCloud Relay, cleared all history for Safari, and i also turned off "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking and other privacy toggles; and turned off reader view by default. Sorry for long message. Will keep troubleshooting if it happens again. With much gratitude, Adrian Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 17:29, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A few comments.
  • First of all, it seems you are feeling a bit more welcome here, which is good as your first few days were a bit rough (to say the least)
  • In my opinion bringing your first article to deletion was not a very welcoming thing to do -- it wasn't wrong, strictly speaking, as the referencing of the article was not sufficient, but it might have sent the wrong message; to the extent my attempts to be helpful were not appreciated, I'm sorry for that too
  • Also in my opinion you could contact the artist -- I've done it one or two times, like when friend of mine's ex-bandmate was up for deletion and I didn't have that person's contact details -- what you'd be asking for would be pointers to hard-to-find reliable sources, rather than something which might be seen as helping promote them (conflict of interest) or original research
  • I strongly suggest you go back to the AfD and strike (strike using <s>bad text</s>) your comments about being gatekept, and anything else that might be inflammatory or lacking foundation; it's a custom that shows you are learning from your errors, and the closing administrator will notice it even if other editors don't.
Oblivy (talk) 01:49, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, thank you so much for your kindness and your sage advice! You're so right: it was a bit rocky....in large part due to my fear of rejection. I didn't know what to expect or the cultural norms yet and the language commonly used, etc.
I also didn't know I was allowed to strike the comments I made, so that is a relief that I am able to do so. I will do this asap.
It's also excellent to learn that I can contact the artist - carefully if need be, only inquiring about hard-to-find reliable sources and steering clear of anything that could smack of promotional - it's a bit daunting to contact her, but I shall try if I am stumped!
Again, thank you, Oblivy, for being so kind and patient with me as I learn "the ropes" and lay of the land (mixed a land with a sea metaphor there, sorry, lol) Alas, one's old wounds can influence one's sense of belonging, can't they. But! Hope springs eternal and I have seen so much kindness and community in the past couple of days and was encouraged my many long-term seasoned editors, which was heartening, and just so many people willing to offer me their wise advice. So, thank you again for taking the time out to write to me. I really appreciate your words. Kind regards, Adrian Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 02:08, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
FYI the custom on talk pages is not to delete/edit things people have responded to (because it may tend to mislead) hence the strike. Oblivy (talk) 02:16, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see. It makes sense because the comments that come after then would be out of context. Many thanks again!
With all of the rewarding aspects of this journey this week (exciting to find better sources for example!), and yes, the learning experiences, and the social collaborative nature of this, I think I might be in 'danger' of becoming a committed Wikipedian. LOL. Thank you so much again. Warmest regards, A. Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 02:21, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Red

[edit]

Hi there, Adrian.stewart.music, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you have already created your first women's biography and hope there will be many more. In this connection, you might find it useful to look through our essays, perhaps beginning with our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 17:02, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ipigott! Thank you for the warm welcome! I will look at these Ten Simple Rules. I really appreciate this tip! I wonder if it is appropriate or possible to request anyone to take a look at the Barbara Gogan article, even a cursory one and provide just maybe a couple of thoughts on where I should focus on improvements of formatting or prose? No heavylifting, but just what they might have bandwidth to do? I am sorry if this is not a Wikipedia norm or a faux pas. I am still learning the cultural landscape and I am so grateful for your time in reading this :) Warmly, Adrian Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 17:14, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It looks to me as if the article is coming along pretty well. I see there are a few items which are not supported by references but in general you are doing a pretty good job. It might be useful to try to find more critical assessments and any pertinent awards. Other editors may be able to help you along. Keep up the good work!--Ipigott (talk) 15:48, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ipigott Thank you so much for taking time to look at the article! I very much appreciate your guidance and encouragement, and will seek to implement your advice! I am so glad it seems to be on the right track. Hope to have some substantial improvements soon. Best regards, Adrian Adrian.stewart.music (talk) 15:54, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
