[edit]I specialize in Middle Eastern studies, international relations, and finance (holding degrees in the first two fields). I do a lot of reference work on Wikipedia, and routinely monitor certain articles to make sure they conform to WP:NPOV. I believe that since the encyclopedia is a resource most-often looked to for quick information, I as a user have a responsibility to ensure that it is both accurate and informative. A single article that reads like an advertisement, "criticism and controversy" POV soapbox, or third grade paper can have a disproportionate negative impact on a reader's opinion of the project as a whole, and that's what I seek to avoid. I'm sympathetic to deletionism, but I'm by no means an ardent adherent.
