Imminent Implosion Rumors vs Official Findings

[edit]

In the sections "18 June, dive, disappearance, and implosion", there are two paragraphs about whether the crew and passengers of Titan knew an implosion was imminent. Together, they basically read, "The crew knew the vessel was about to implode. The crew did not know the vessel was about to implode." Before the USCG's report was issued, both positions were essentially hearsay, but now the USCG has officially concluded that the crew did not know.

However, the article should probably acknowledge the existence of rumors and/or belief of the crew knowing of their impending deaths because of the "Lawsuit" section, since the lawsuit apparently alleges "experts agree that the Titan’s crew would have realized exactly what was happening", in relation to the implosion." Things have moved on, because the official inquiry did not find evidence that the people on board Titan knew or suspected that something was wrong before the implosion. This was suggested by James Cameron but it was hearsay. The lawsuit alleged this, but it was not confirmed by the inquiry.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 09:41, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's worth a mention because those rumors were widely circulated prior to official findings, and readers may come here specifically looking for that information. We should affirm that they were rumors refuted by the USCG final report. Xan747 (talk) 15:05, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian English

[edit]

"In Canada, the correct spelling is defence. This spelling aligns with British English conventions, while defense is the American English spelling. Both spellings are officially recognized in Canada, but Canadian government publications typically use defence."

So which is it? "Defense" or "Defence" for this article? Iljhgtn (talk) 05:08, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
