This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Amargue (talk) 17:43, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It does nothing more than provide minimal information about a service. I have edited out words in hopes that it meets your guidelines for it to remain in wikipedia. I do not believe it has any language that would make it promotional in any way. The page contains only information on what it is, who created it, funding values and references reliable sources that back up the facts presented. (Amargue (talk) 17:43, 2 April 2015 (UTC))[reply]

Proposing additions to the History section

[edit]

Hello! I'm a connected contributor with a declared COI on this Talk page. I'd like to suggest updates to the article’s History section to help bring it up to date, as the current content ends in 2021. My proposed additions are posted below.

I understand the importance of maintaining neutrality and reliable sourcing, and I’ve done my best to reflect that in the draft. Thanks for your time and consideration. Any feedback is appreciated.

Dr. Jon Cohen (physician) became Talkspace CEO in September 2022.[1]
In 2022, Talkspace shifted its primary focus from direct-to-consumer services to enterprise and payer partnerships, aiming to provide mental health services through health plans, employers, and government contracts.[2]
In 2023, the company secured a $26 million contract with New York City to provide free therapy services to teens aged 13 to 17.[3]
In 2024, Talkspace launched the Behavioral Health Consortium, a network that allows clinicians to refer insured members with high-acuity needs—such as substance use, alcoholism, and eating disorders—to in-network specialty care providers. The consortium is accessible through Talkspace’s Health Collective platform, which also connects users to services from partners like Oura, Evernow, and Options MD.[4] In the same year, Talkspace and Ovia Health by Labcorp co-launched the Women’s Health Coalition for Digital Solutions, a partnership aimed at advancing women’s health through technology, service integration, and workplace policy advocacy. The coalition includes companies like Conceive, Evernow, FitOn, Nurx, Cove, and Nutrium, and seeks to improve healthcare access, reduce stigma, and develop employer-supported solutions tailored to women’s diverse physical and mental health needs.[5]
Also in 2024, Talkspace partnered with Amazon Health Services to offer virtual therapy services through Amazon’s Health Benefits Connector where users access insurance-covered care. The collaboration allows Amazon users to discover and verify their mental health benefits, then connect with a licensed Talkspace therapist through a simplified intake process.[6]
By early 2025, Talkspace reported its first profitable quarter, attributing the success to growth in business-to-business contracts and Medicare services.[7]

 Not done for now: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Where should these changes be made? GoldRomean (talk) 00:40, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @GoldRomean and thank you for the quick review. Looking back, I agree that my request should have been more clear. The History section currently ends with the following paragraph:
In November 2021, the chief operating officer, CEO, and head of clinical services all resigned within a span of weeks. The company disclosed that some of the resignations were in connection to an offsite company event. Shareholder rights law firms announced investigations that the company's former leadership violated securities law.
I'd like to propose that the paragraphs I included above be added to the History section following that last paragraph about 2021. This will make that section of the article feel less dated. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions. SBCornelius (talk) 15:41, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would say the info you propose sort of feels like an advertisement. GoldRomean (talk) 15:45, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @GoldRomean! Thank you for the feedback. I'll work on editing my proposed copy with that in mind. Do you think this is a tone issue, or are some points I've included inherently promotional, independent of the wording? Thanks again, and I'll work on this and change the tag back to unanswered when done. SBCornelius (talk) 17:21, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoldRomean, I've changed the tone and how the information is presented. Please let me know if this is acceptable.
Dr. Jon Cohen (physician) became Talkspace CEO in September 2022.[8]

Also in 2024, Talkspace became available through Amazon’s Health Benefits Connector where users access insurance-covered care. The collaboration allows Amazon users to confirm their mental health benefits and connect with a licensed Talkspace therapist.[12]
By early 2025, Talkspace reported its first profitable quarter, attributing the success to a focus on enterprise and payer partnerships where mental health services became available through health plans, employers, and government contracts.[13][14]}
SBCornelius (talk) 19:48, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay. That looks fine, go ahead and make the changes. However, I wouldn't object to another editor removing it if they find it to be too promotional. GoldRomean (talk) 14:20, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @ GoldRomean, and thanks for the quick feedback. I don't have the ability to add the revised text to the article. Would you be comfortable doing that? Thanks again for the help, and please let me know how you'd suggest we proceed. SBCornelius (talk) 20:14, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
 Done, sorry, didn't notice your block. GoldRomean (talk) 20:21, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoldRomeanThank you! SBCornelius (talk) 21:07, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoldRomean, I've made additional suggestions for the Product section (see below). Since you reviewed my previous requests for this article, I wanted to give you the first crack at these new suggestions. If you've moved on, just let me know and I'll add an Edit COI tag to drop this into the queue for someone else. Thanks again for the help. SBCornelius (talk) 20:15, 30 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm somewhat busy at the moment. Feel free to add the tag, and I might take a look when I have more time :). Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 19:08, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoldRomeanThank you! SBCornelius (talk) 19:12, 3 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
 Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. Dahawk04 (talk) 03:10, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dahawk04, thank you for reviewing this request; however, SBCornelius is pblocked from mainspace and can not directly edit the article themselves. GoldRomean (talk) 03:28, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My edit was meant for the request below the script must have placed it in the wrong place. My apologies Dahawk04 (talk) 03:33, 4 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Dahawk04, I think I may have misplaced that script. Sorry for the confusion. I'm adding it in the right place now. SBCornelius (talk) 20:30, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed edits and editions for the Product section

[edit]

I would like to propose improvements to the Product section of the article. Below are two TextDiff templates for changes to the first two paragraphs of this section. I've also included a box containing a proposed fourth paragraph for this section. Thanks for your time and as always, any feedback is appreciated.

Hi @Dahawk04 and @GoldRomean, since you both previously reviewed my proposed edits for this article, I wanted to reach out again to thank you and see if you'd be willing to take a look at the above. My latest edit requests are in the queue, but your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks again! SBCornelius (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 18:20, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure about this - the whole first paragraph is really promotional (with or without the changes), and the second sort of as well. GoldRomean (talk) 20:10, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoldRomean Yes, I see what you are saying about the type of information in the first two paragraphs without changes, but they are inaccurate or incomplete without clarification, so I wanted to correct the first paragraph and round out the second with information about the number of users. I was trying only to propose new details to include, but would a rewrite that addresses the tone and inaccuracies help? I can take a run at that if it helps. SBCornelius (talk) 17:14, 8 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd like to go for it, sure. Sentences like "Talkspace is a monthly subscriptions service with prices starting at US$260 per month." are really promotional and should probably be removed though, even if rewritten neutrally, etc. :) GoldRomean (talk) 15:29, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @GoldRomean, I've take a run at rewriting the Product section to make everything less promotional, including the existing language that I didn't suggest changes to before. Thank you and please let me know if you need anything else.
== Product ==
Talkspace provides psychotherapy via smartphone, tablet, or desktop where users over the age of 13 can attend sessions with a licensed therapist.[1][25] The monthly subscriptions service[26][3] allows users to communicate with a therapist via video, audio, and text messaging,[27] and depending on the plan, users may schedule a number of 30- or 60-minute video conference sessions per month.[28]
Clients are matched with a psychotherapist either through an intake specialist or by selecting from options generated by a matching system.[29] Therapist use approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and other established treatment options.[30] Talkspace reports having served more than 1.5 million clients and works with licensed providers across the United States.[31][32] As of 2025, 200 million people had access to Talkspace through in-network coverage, Medicare (United States), and Medicare Advantage plans.[33][34] The company is an in-network provider with several major insurers, including Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna and Tricare.[35][36]
Talkspace is also HIPAA BAA compliant and uses encryption to maintain client confidentiality.[37] All therapists are licensed and screening involves background-checks, technical training, and clinical interviews.[38]
In 2025, Talkspace introduced "Talkcast," an artificial intelligence tool that enables therapists to create audio content for clients to use between therapy sessions.[39] The company also expanded services for teen mental health through a partnership with Bark Technologies, which provides app-based support for younger users.[40] SBCornelius (talk) 18:41, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Let’s wait for someone else to get another opinion :). GoldRomean (talk) 20:04, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@GoldRomean that sounds good. Thank you! SBCornelius (talk) 15:45, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, second opinion here. This still feels quite promotional as written. The important information in this section very likely could be truncated down to two paragraphs at most.
Here's what I would do to improve this:
- Review your sources. There are several sources cited in your additions that don't pass WP: RS. Forbes (contributor), uschamber.com, and Business Insider are all sources that Wikipedia have historically considered unreliable or reliable with other considerations, just as an example.
- Cut the third paragraph. The information there feels too promotional to me and doesn't add much to the article.
And again, cut down the promotional language. Two paragraphs, at most, IMO. If you want me to look at it again once you're done, feel free to ping me. Meepmeepyeet (talk) 01:44, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Meepmeepyeet! Thank you for the feedback. I'll work on making those changes to my edit request and tag you here when done. Thanks again! SBCornelius (talk) 16:55, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Meepmeepyeet! I've edited this down to two paragraphs, so please let me know what you think when you have a chance. Thank you!
Talkspace provides psychotherapy through a subscription service accessible by smartphone, tablet, or desktop for users age 13 and older.[1][41] Clients can communicate with licensed therapists via text, audio, or video messaging, and some plans include scheduled video sessions.[42][43]Matching with a therapist occurs through either an intake specialist or a system-generated set of options.[44] Therapists use approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and other common treatment methods.[45]
Talkspace reportsit has worked with more than a million clients and partners with licensed providers across the United States.[46][47] As of 2025, Talkspace services were available through Medicare (United States), and Medicare Advantage, and several major insurers.[48][49][50][51] The platform is HIPAA-compliant, with licensed therapists who undergo background checks and training.[52][53]

This does feel like an advertisement to me, too, still Likeanechointheforest (talk) 15:32, 22 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Likeanechointheforest Thank you for the feedback. I'll take another run at this and get it down to 2-3 sentences that feel more neutral. SBCornelius (talk) 17:02, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, I think it's how specific certain details are (like how they can communicate with who) that's making it feel adverty to me. Thanks, Encoded  Talk 💬 15:36, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
