1. It is reasonably well written.

   a (prose, spelling, and grammar): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):

• Since “Kapsu” is a red link, it would be helpful to add one or two words prior to explain it, ie. “The island of Kapsu.” Is Kapsu an island or town?
  • That makes sense
• Under “Service History” would it make more sense to introduce the attacks by Malietoa Laupepa before mentioning why Adler was reassigned? Keeping the story linear would be more clear for the reader
  • Good idea
• Would it be helpful to add an interlanguage link to [1]https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Fritze_(Admiral)?
  • Probably so - I have fairly long-range plans to write articles on the German admirals, but it'd be a long while before I get to people like Fritze
• I think it would be better if the infobox was was condensed so that the German flag is listed under ‘operator’ and not standing alone at the top of the box without text
  • I think technically the flag violates MOS:INFOBOXFLAG, so I've just removed it

  • A photo would generally be preferable to a sketch, but that photo is fairly low quality and more importantly, there's no source. While it's undoubtedly public domain, given its age, I don't think we can use it without a source.

• The article is in a very good shape, and all my points here are mainly nick picks to round everything out. I also did some copy edits - please review my changes to see if they are acceptable. I'll read over everything again to ensure that nothing was missed.

  My only other concern regards the line, "Under way again on 20 April, Adler sailed north for Samoa; she anchored in Apia on 25 May, where she began charting Samoan waters. These operations were interrupted on 12 July, when the ship received orders to join the German cruiser squadron in Sydney. By the time she arrived, Samoans led by Malietoa Laupepa had begun significant attacks on Germans in the islands, which prompted the other ships to sail for Samoa, so Adler was docked for repairs and another contingent from her crew was replaced." This does not make a lot of sense to me - why was she ordered to sail from Samoa to rendezvous with a fleet sailing to Samoa? Or was this a pre-planned rotation that just so happened to occur during the revolt?

  Hildebrand et. al. aren't clear, but I'd wager the latter - it seemed the ship needed repairs (which was not uncommon for ships of this era after having sailed halfway around the world). Parsecboy (talk) 18:07, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
