In context to security lapses under modi premiership
[edit]Like other governments, Modi government also faced security lapses since 2014 he became pm weather it was pulwama attack or the recent pahalgam attack by terrorists. I need assistance from editors that where should i write about these security lapses under his premiership in a separate section. Should i add this in Narendra Modi article or in Narendra Modi premiership article? Thanks TheSlumPanda (talk) 08:09, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think a sentence or two in this Narendra Modi article on security lapses, and a more detailed paragraph or so in the premiership article would make sense. EarthDude (talk) 15:49, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- If the sources support this, then that sort of length would make sense, but I'm not sure that they do. If you want to discuss "security lapses" during Modi's premiership, you need sources explicitly discussing that - not just news coverage of incidents of terrorism or militancy during Modi's premiership. Vanamonde93 (talk) 16:36, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Vanamonde93 I support your words that they should explicitly mention about modi premiership but at present the reality is that mostly the news media of india is baised and they rarely wrote against modi government. TheSlumPanda (talk) 17:07, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- There are various news sources such as The Wire (India) or The Caravan or international media such as Al Jazeera that could have articles discussing security lapses under Modi.
Some examples we could give are the uri, pulwama, pathankot, reasi, and the recent pahalgham attack. We could also include the 2022 security breach and the 2023 parliament breach.
While finding news sources, especially from the Indian mainstream media which is mostly pro-government isn't easy, it's not fully impossible either. After some searching, I have found some usable sources. I'm sure there are a lot of other sources we can use too.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] EarthDude (talk) 18:40, 25 April 2025 (UTC)- A paragraph on this issue can be added at Narendra Modi#Defence. Capitals00 (talk) 01:45, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Capitals00 ofcourse. Currently i am writing this whole issue on modi premiership page and btw thanks for guidance TheSlumPanda (talk) 05:29, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

There should be an edit on his page introduction summary. He is longest serving prime minister after JawaharLal Nehru. The current summary says Indian National Congress which is a party not a person or a prime minister. 2600:4040:A627:CD00:B027:B710:9AAE:A8B7 (talk) 20:49, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Not done (he is 3rd longest serving. Indira gandhi was pm for ~15yrs)TheSlumPanda (talk) 06:21, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
I took a quick skim through the article and noticed that it is over 10,000 words large, more than the 9,000 words that WP:TOOBIG recommends. I already took out the "Personality" section because, with an article of this size, many might consider it unencyclopedic and too WP:PEACOCK. Here are other suggestions on how to reduce the article's size:
- I usually recommend that sections be about four paragraphs maximum before another heading is used. This might mean trimming information.
- "Early life and education" is quite long and I think can be reduced.
- In "Premiership campaigns", the 2014 election is four paragraphs, the 2019 is three, and the 2024 is two. I think each of these sections should be two or three paragraphs, and the articles about the elections can have more detail.
- "Hindutva" is quite long and I suggest that it is reduced in size.
- "Awards and recognition" is too long. I suggest moving some of this information to List of awards and honours received by Narendra Modi and highlighting the most notable ones in this article.
Is a subject-matter expert willing to take a look at this? I would make the changes myself but in the past, my edits to reduce prose size has been reverted. Z1720 (talk) 18:18, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Z1720: I am a primary author here, and I suppose could be considered a subject matter expert. In my view the general balance is appropriate, but as you say each section could probably lose a little bit of material. This is an instance in which an editor uninvolved with the article may have better perspective as to what is extraneous, so I encourage you to make cuts - some of them will be reverted, but it will give us a basis to discuss further changes. I agree the campaign sections could use trimming, and in general there are many instances where announcements or statements, rather than concrete actions, are used for either praise or criticism, and probably constitute undue weight. With all that said, this is a biography of a person who has led the world's most populous nation for a decade plus. We should not expect to cut it below the allowable range. I would not look to trim more than a 1000 words. Vanamonde93 (talk) 19:03, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Vanamonde93: I'm currently in the middle of trimming Gianluigi Buffon, which is taking longer than I expected. I'll add this to my list of articles to get to, but appreciate it if other can take a pass before I start. Z1720 (talk) 20:24, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
