I am the subject of this article and have prepared an update, with ever effort to be neutral and cite outside sources in my sandbox: User:Idamantium/sandbox. Can this be used to update the main article?
Key changes include:
- Lead & infobox—updates to “experience designer” title, removes outdated “artist” label
- Career—adds Uncommon Places Design founding date, cleans up consultancy names and order, removes emphasis on short Rockefeller stint
- Teaching & speaking—adds verifiable talks (GLF 2022, Harvard xDesign, Cusp 2018, Tribeca 2017, Bloomberg Design) and links to SVA IxD faculty profile
- Influence—expandes list of book mentions and adds syllabus uses at UCI, NYU ITP, and Carnegie Mellon
- General cleanup—fixes typos, merges duplicate refs, removes self‑published promotional language
Thanks for considering these edits to improve and update the page! –––– Idamantium (talk) 23:11, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- A few things (this is not a full review, I have not checked sources):
- Education should be prose, not a cv-like bulleted list.
- "Benedetto founded Uncommon Places Design in 2021" is uncited
- List of selected talks is also cv-like and not needed unless there's something that can said about them beyond "they happened", ideally cited to independent sources
- Most of the "Influence" section reads like namedropping, though "experience design specialist and highly creative dyslexic thinker" could possibly be worked in elsewhere and "Patterns of Transformation" being on syllabi makes sense to include if it is discussed elsewhere in the article, which it probably should be. If she is actually a significant influence on the works that are discussed in the "Influence" section then that should be made clear, but as is she may as well be mentioned in a sentence in each for all I know based on the text here
- I'm aware some of these issues are in the original text as well, I may update that later as well. Overall: independent sources are your friend if you want to include anything that could be perceived under any circumstance as potentially promotional-seeming. - Thanks for giving this a look over. I've updated the education section to be prose and added a reference for the founding of Uncommon Places Design (just an open gov listing of the LLC registration, so possibly not sufficient).
- Agreed that the influences section and list of talks leaves much to be desired. As the subject of the article, I'm finding it quite hard to get an objective enough stance to write helpful article content. Mostly, I'm hoping to have the entry be a bit more current than the existing version.
- What do you recommend? I could made more edits based on your suggestions, knowing this will still very much need an editing pass from a disengaged neutral party. I could also gather up sources and quotes to add here on the talk page as fodder for someone else to make edits.
- All this is very low priority in the broader Wikipedia land, so I'm just grateful for the care and attention you've brought to this already! Idamantium (talk) 13:45, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Idamantium, The draft is an improvement over the existing article, however I've spotted a bit of citation overkill and errors in the citations that would need fixing first. If you'd like to continue making changes I'd suggest doing so in the sandbox page then pinging someone over here to review it, also if you are concerned about being unable to write objective content I'm happy to help you review any specific text and provide feedback on it as well. - Hi @Idamantium, I'd like to add to the above comment. When new versions are proposed, not only does the reviewing editor have to check the sourcing and content for suitability, but also we have to review to see what's being removed. We want to avoid articles being whitewashed, or we have to decline the request. It's easier for reviewers if you show the requested changes before and after, with clear reasons for the changes, to be fully transparent. I've started a this how-to essay with simple instructions for how to do this. STEMinfo (talk) 20:56, 8 August 2025 (UTC)

Not done for now: "Influence" section is full of promotion, or a bunch of positive descriptions rather than describing influence. Either way, closing until the poster responds to the above feedbacks. AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 14:31, 24 August 2025 (UTC)

Ida Benedetto (artist) → Ida Benedetto (designer) – Reliable secondary sources (for example, her SVA faculty profile, Bloomberg Design interview, etc.) describe her primarily as a designer rather than an artist. --Idamantium (talk) 23:48, 20 April 2025 (UTC) — Relisting.
