Talk:Ghosts (Pac-Man)

Wild adjectives with no substance

[edit]

IMHO this article is terrible. Almost every line needs a Citation Needed. As a example this is the first ghost described

"Blinky

A red Ghost that is bad-tempered, bossy, crude, bratty, grouchy, dangerous, sarcastic, wimpy, and greedy. In the "Pac-Man World"-games this ghost is Clyde.

Blinky receives an speed boost after a number of pellets have been cleared. This mode has been informally referred to as "Cruise Elroy".[6][7]"

Red - good. Called shadow or blinky - good. Both supported by the article.

bad-tempered, bossy, crude, bratty, grouchy, dangerous, sarcastic, wimpy, and greedy. This is a sprite from a 1980s 8 bit video game but the adjectives listed are way beyond current AI technology. In the article the statement from the actual game designer is 'the red enemy chases Pac-Man' - that is a believable claim.

None of the references back up these anthropomorphized descriptions. Mtpaley (talk) 23:09, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As far as personality goes, the writer may have been referring to the Pac-Man cartoon TV series. Equinox 18:56, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Use free image?

Should we start using this free image of the ghosts? I believe it conveys the same information as the non-free one, except for the edible ghost appearance due to a power pellet. I believe that could be extracted from the video in the same way that the ghosts image was. (I believe it does appear there.) Yes, we should use the image. In-fact it's a better infobox image than what we have now at present anyways. There's definitely no reason to justify using the non-free one over the free use one. I'll add it shortly. λ NegativeMP1 06:28, 8 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
