Zain Ijaz[1] (born 8 May 1991) is a Pakistani former youth cricketer who represented Sahiwal at district, regional, and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) youth tournaments between 2006 and 2010.
Early life and family
[edit]Ijaz was born in Sahiwal, Punjab. His father, Ijaz Ahmed, played first-class and List A cricket for Lahore. His maternal grandfather, Ashraf Ali, represented Pakistan in Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Another maternal grandfather, Saadat Ali, also played ODIs for Pakistan and later scored over 10,000 runs in first-class cricket.
Cricket career
[edit]Ijaz began playing cricket at Chand Bagh School and later represented his school and college in inter-school competitions. He went on to play in PCB- organized youth tournaments.
District cricket
[edit]He represented Sahiwal District[2] in youth tournaments, facing teams from Vehari, Okara, Khanewal, and Bahawalpur.
Regional cricket
[edit]Playing for Multan Region, Ijaz competed against some of Punjab’s youth teams.
Under-16 career
[edit]Represented Sahiwal Under-16s in PCB tournaments.
Under-19 career (2006–2010)
[edit]19 Sep 2006 – vs Wynberg Boys High School (South Africa) at Chand Bagh School[4], Muridke.
20 Aug 2009 – vs Khanewal Under-19s, PCB Inter-District One-Day Tournament, Chichawatni.
17 Aug 2009 – vs Vehari Under-19s, Quaid-e-Azam Stadium, Burewala.
02 Sep 2009 – vs Okara Under-19s, Gymkhana Ground, Okara.
06 Sep 2009 – Multan Region Final, Sahiwal Under-19s vs Bahawalpur Under-19s, Bahawal Stadium.
