Peruanos en el Mundo (English: Peruvians Around the World) is a weekly travel documentary television series that premiered on February 7, 2015, on the SUR Peru TV network.[1] Created and hosted by journalist Roberto Pazos, the series presents the experiences of Peruvian immigrants living in various countries.[2] The program has produced episodes in over 50 countries across six continents.[3]
Format
[edit]Each episode focuses on a different location and features interviews with Peruvian immigrants, along with segments on culture and community life.[4] Production started in 2012, with the first season airing on SUR Peru TV in 2015.[5] The show is broadcast nationally in the United States and Canada.[6] From 2018 to 2020, it was also broadcast in Peru on TV Perú, the public national broadcaster.[7]
Host and Production
[edit]Roberto Pazos, a journalist originally from Lima, Peru, created and hosts the series.[8] His background includes assignments with CNN and Univision.[9] Pazos is also founder of "Filmed in Peru," a film showcase based in New York and Miami.[10] Steve Hunsicker is the Executive Producer.

Reception and Context
[edit]The series addresses the experiences of the Peruvian diaspora, which includes over 3.5 million people living outside Peru as of 2024.[22] Media research indicates that diaspora television programs contribute to cultural preservation and identity maintenance in migrant communities.[23][24]
The show has created an audiovisual record of Peruvian immigrant experiences, including cultural adaptation and identity maintenance. Documentary media have been recognized for their role in archiving cultural heritage.[25]
