Draft:Merryhill School

  • Comment: The draft article has been improved by reducing the promotional tone, but the only new source - the Bahrain sale - does not mention Merryhill, and so we are left with one key source - the NY Times - and some passing references. The encyclopedia.com is an aggregating source, perhaps drawn from the Philadelphia Business Journal. Under WP:SIRS we need more robust, multiple, in-depth and independent sourcing. Merryhill School is a group of private preschools, elementary, and middle schools in the United States.

History

[edit]

The first Merryhill School opened in 1949 in Sacramento, California. The original campus began as a church annex and served five preschool-aged children. The organization opened two additional locations offering preschool and elementary education.[1]

In the late 1970s, the schools were acquired by former public school superintendent Dr. Donald Leisey who expanded the network and introduced before- and after-school programs. By 1980, the school expanded to over 20 locations in California, including the addition of middle school grades at the flagship campus.[2]

Merryhill was acquired in 1989 by Rocking Horse Child Care Center, Inc. The organization was renamed to Nobel Learning Communities in 1993 and later Nobel Learning Communities in 1998.[3] In 2018, Nobel Learning Communities, including Merryhill School, was acquired by Spring Education Group, a national network of private schools.[4][5]

Accreditation

[edit]

Several Merryhill preschools are accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).[6] Elementary and middle school campuses are listed in the Western Accrediting Commission for Schools (WASC) [7][8] and Cognia directories.[9][10]

Campus openings and relocations

[edit]

In April 2013, the Roseville Planning Commission approved Merryhill's relocation to 1115 Orlando Avenue, converting a former offer building into a K-8 campus.[11]

In January 2017, a Merryhill Preschool opened in Aurora, Colorado, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5678 S. Himalaya Street.[12]
