Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from elsewhere, unless it explicitly and verifiably has been released to the world under a suitably free and compatible copyright license or into the public domain and is written in an acceptable tone—this includes material that you own the copyright to. You should attribute the content of a draft to outside sources, using citations, but copying and pasting or closely paraphrasing sources is not acceptable. The entire draft should be written using your own words and structure.

Submission declined on 15 September 2025 by CNMall41 (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by CNMall41 15 days ago. | ![]() |
Comment: A substantial part of the draft consists of copypasted text from a source with copyright NeoGaze (talk) 14:49, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
Comment: In addition, please see WP:INCITE. We do not include sections for "in the news." If those links are relevant to support content within the draft, they should be placed inline. CNMall41 (talk) 18:00, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
Let It Be Us is a nonprofit and a licensed child welfare agency in Illinois that works to improve foster care and adoption by recruiting and supporting families for children awaiting placement. The organization manages programs like The Adoption Listing Service of Illinois and The Heart Gallery, helping children find stable, permanent homes by creating comprehensive databases of pre-screened, diverse families and actively recruiting them to meet the needs of children, including those with complex needs or who are older youth.[1]
Recognition and media coverage
[edit]The organization has been featured in multiple media outlets, including ABC7 Chicago,[2] CBS Chicago,[3] and FOX 32 Chicago[4] for its community initiatives.
Leadership has also appeared on WGN Radio[5] to discuss the mission and programs.
Authority Magazine[6] published a feature on Founder and CEO Dr. Susan A. McConnell, and Country Magazine[7] profiled the organization's Ladies Leadership Luncheon[8]
In 2025, Crain's Chicago Business recognized Dr. Susan A. McConnell as one of its Notable Leaders in Philanthropy[9]
The Citizen Newspaper Group[10] highlighted its outreach and impact in local communities.
Events
[edit]The Be Mine Gala is an annual fundraising event hosted by Let It Be Us to support foster care and adoption initiatives across Illinois. The 7th Annual Be Mine Gala, held on May 9, 2025, at The Wellsley in Chicago's River North, featured handcrafted cocktails, a gourmet dinner, live entertainment, and auctions. The evening also included an exclusive after-party with late-night bites and raffles. Funds raised from the gala support the organization's Open Home Navigator Online Platform, which assists in placing children with foster and adoptive families, and sustain its partnership with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to improve placement rates in the state.[11]
The Toy Drive for Children in Foster Care is an annual December initiative in collaboration with DCFS, CASA of Lake County, and local group homes. The drive collects and distributes toys and essential items to children in foster care throughout Northern Illinois. In 2024, donation drop-off points included the Let It Be Us headquarters in Barrington, Illinois. Items requested ranged from gift cards and building sets to dolls and art supplies, with direct donation options available for supporters unable to shop. The program ensures children in foster care receive gifts during the holiday season, reducing disparities and providing support to the neediest children.[12]
