Gulnaz Dadashova (Azerbaijani: Gülnaz Mahir qızı Dadaşova – Azerbaijani cardiologist, professor, and doctor of medical sciences. Director of the Ch. Abdullayev Research Institute of Cardiology (since 2018). In 2024, Gulnaz Dadashova was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Doctor of the Republic of Azerbaijan" for her services to the development of healthcare.
Education
[edit]Gulnaz Dadashova was born in Baku into a family of teachers. She received her initial education at school No. 191, graduating with a medal. In 1992, she was admitted to the Faculty of Prophylactic Medicine at Azerbaijan Medical University, graduating in 1998. From 1999 to 2000, she completed her internship as a cardiologist at the Baku Railway Hospital. From 2002 to 2005, she pursued postgraduate studies in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at Azerbaijan Medical University.
In 2008, she was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences after defending her scientific work on "Optimization of Treatment for Arterial Hypertension in Postmenopausal Women." She received the academic title of Associate Professor in 2016. In 2018, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences for her scientific work on "Gender Features of Chronic Heart Failure, Possibilities for Improving Diagnosis and Drug Treatment, and Determining Prognosis and Survival Forecasts." In 2019, she enrolled in a master's degree program for a physician-cardiologist specialty at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, graduating in 2022. She also completed a Postgraduate Course of Heart Failure (PCHF) at the same university.
She is fluent in Russian and English. She is married and has two children.
Work Activity
[edit]Gulnaz Dadashova began her career in 2006 as a senior laboratory assistant at the Academician J. M. Abdullayev Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology, where she continued as a senior researcher in the Heart Failure Department from 2014. On September 21, 2018, she was appointed director of the institute and currently holds this position.
Additionally, since 2007, she has been lecturing in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at Azerbaijan Medical University. Since 2019, she has lectured on internal medicine in the English section of the Third Department of Internal Diseases at Azerbaijan Medical University and at the Baku branch of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
Scientific Works
[edit]Gulnaz Dadashova is the author of nearly 100 scientific works and has presented at numerous local and international scientific conferences. Her research includes gender differences in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in patients with arterial hypertension, gender features of risk factors for the development and severity of chronic heart failure, age and gender differences in the genesis of chronic heart failure, and the effect of moxonidine and its combination with ivabradine on insulin resistance parameters in patients with metabolic syndrome.
Professor Gulnaz Dadashova has also conducted scientific research on the gender characteristics of the clinical and psycho-emotional status of patients with chronic heart failure.[5]
As a result of her scientific activities, she has investigated gender differences in the treatment of chronic heart failure at the inpatient stage and gender differences in the dynamics of clinical-functional and psycho-emotional status, as well as morphological and functional parameters of the heart, against the background of various drug treatment options in patients with chronic heart failure after myocardial infarction. She has also studied gender differences in the clinical-functional and psycho-emotional status, and morpho-functional parameters of the heart in patients with chronic heart failure after myocardial infarction.
During her scientific career, she has studied the features of the course of arterial hypertension in postmenopausal women and the hemodynamic and metabolic effects of complex therapy with moxonidine and hormonal replacement therapy in hypertensive postmenopausal women.
Gulnaz Dadashova is the author and co-author of several textbooks, methodological guides, and monographs, including "Современные Аспекты Хронической Сердечной Недостаточности" (Modern Aspects of Chronic Heart Failure), published in Moscow in 2022.[6]
In 2016–2017, she served as the Chief Coordinator for the OPTIMIZE HF Azerbaijan Registry, organized by the European Society of Cardiology, and is the head of the "Cardiovascular Pharmacology" working group at the Azerbaijan Cardiology Society (ACS).
She is the chairman of the Scientific Seminar of the Dissertation Council ED 2.27 on the specialty 3218.01 - "Cardiology," approved by the decision of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on April 20, 2023 (protocol № 3–50/3-1-1-89/2023).
