Fundamental Paper Education (abbreviated as FPE) is an animated web series created by KatiE18729 on March 1, 2024 with 75 million views on YouTube.[1] The animated series is set in a school, with many main visuals having an outline with a paper background.
Not wanting popularity to be drawn to "Basics in Behavior", KatiE18729 unlisted the episode on November 24, 2024 and subsequently changed its visibility to private in April 2025.[2] In April, shortly after her videos were set to private, KatiE18729 updated her YouTube bio, mentioning that she was doing well but needed some time before she could return to making videos. In August 2025, KatiE18729's YouTube account disappeared.
Synopsis
[edit]Fundamental Paper Education follows around a school in which some students are murdered for having failing academic scores. The series only features one episode, Basics in Behavior, in which Claire is murdered by Alice whilst exploring Paper School. Earlier, Abbie was murdered by Miss Circle for failing the math test, while Lana was killed for witnessing Abbie's murder. The future of the series is uncertain, as a series of artworks shows KatiE18729's stagnating amount of motivation to continue it, and may not have a second episode.
Characters
[edit]Teachers
[edit]Three main teachers are introduced in Basics in Behavior.
- Miss Circle is a math teacher who first appears in the episode Basics in Behavior, in which she kills Abbie and chases Claire in an attempt to kill her too. She is often a prominent figure in online media.
- Miss Bloomie is a science teacher who appears to have a sense of guilt unlike Miss Circle, who appears almost guiltless when murdering Abbie.
- Miss Thavel is a language teacher.
Besides the three main characters, there are more characters which have been shown partially.
- Miss Emily is the history teacher
- Miss Sasha is the art teacher.
- Miss Grace is the principal
- Mister Demi is the music teacher.
Students
[edit]- Abbie is a character who failed his math test and was the first to be killed in Basics in Behavior by the teacher Miss Circle.
- Claire is the protagonist of the series. In the episode Basics in Behavior, she appears multiple times and is later killed by "Alice".
- Engel is a character who defends Claire when she is about to be attacked by Miss Circle with a large compass.
- Lana is another character killed off-camera after discovering the murder of Abbie.
- Oliver is one of the bullies at Paper School who is seen to laugh at Claire at the beginning of the video. Oliver is in a relationship with Alice, as it has been demonstrated so on multiple occasions in the video.
- Zip is another bully at Paper School. She has a little brother named Chip.
- Edward is another bully who looks like a scientist. In Basics in Behavior, he used a drone to lift Claire and throw her into a hole in the library.
Antagonists
[edit]So far, there have only been two true antagonists in the series, excluding the teachers.
- Alice (stylized as Δlice) is a university student who in the episode Basics in Behavior, killed the protagonist Claire. Alice could possibly in a relationship with Oliver and the fandom has also made it the standard for ships with Oliver.
- Aiden (stylized as Δiden) is a possible upcoming character in the series, as she is currently featured in official artwork only.
In Internet culture
[edit]A few derivative works have been made based on the original FPE animation. These include:
- Danger, created by Xenko on YouTube with approximately 20 million views
- Basics in Survival/Infection, created by StickTheMan on YouTube.
- Laboratory, created by Molly The Rabbit on YouTube.
- Neverland, which was discontinued.
Controversies
[edit]Since the publication of FPE, there has been ongoing criticism regarding its style. One group, called AFC and led by Wagner, has been particularly vocal. They have reportedly harassed KatiE18729 to the point where she felt overwhelmed, according to some of her friends. Additionally, she has faced inappropriate sexualization of her characters, with many fans pairing them in relationships that involve significant age gaps. KatiE18729 also expressed that Oliver should only be shipped with Alice, but some fans have disregarded her wishes. Moreover, some members of the FPE fandom have faced intervention from outside sources.
