Dillon Mapletoft is a British screenwriter known for writing and co-creating the Channel 4 television sitcom Everyone Else Burns.

Early Life

Mapletoft grew up in York and attended Heworth Primary School.[1]

He started writing and performing comedy at Cambridge University, where he was the 2017 President of Footlights and a finalist in the 2017 Chortle Student Comedy Awards.[2]

Career

Mapletoft previously worked as assistant to Armando Iannucci.[3]

In 2023, he created and wrote Everyone Else Burns alongside frequent collaborator Oliver Taylor.[4] The series received critical acclaim, with a 90% 'fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and was nominated for a Broadcast Award.[5][6] A second series was announced in August 2023 and broadcast in 2024.[7] The second series was also acclaimed, with lead actor Kate O'Flynn nominated for a BAFTA nomination for Best Female Comedy Performance category.[8]

That same year, Mapletoft wrote Episode 4 of satirical comedy series The Franchise (2024 TV series), which was executive produced by Iannucci, Sam Mendes and creator Jon Brown.[9]
