Race

[edit]

Overview

[edit]

The race was won by the No. 3 Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R of factory drivers Sven Müller and Morris Schuring ahead of the sister No. 4 Porsche of Dorian Boccolacci and factory driver Nico Menzel. Completing the podium was the No. 911 Manthey Porsche of factory drivers Ayhancan Güven and Thomas Preining. In SP9 Pro-Am, the No. 48 Black Falcon Porsche of Daan Arrow, Ben Bünnagel, Gabriele Piana and Mike Stursberg won, ahead of the No. 8 Juta Audi of Frank Stippler, Alexey Veremenko and "Selv". SP9 Am would have no winners as a result of both the No. 50 Audi and the No. 786 Lamborghini failing to finish the race.

The No. 3 Falken Porsche would lead home a Porsche 1-2-3-4, with the highest non-porsche finisher being the No. 98 Rowe BMW M4 GT3 Evo of Augusto Farfus, Jesse Krohn, Kelvin van der Linde and Raffaele Marciello in fifth place.

From the start, Frank Stippler succeeded in defending his lead from pole position by avoiding any scuffles with other drivers - unlike the Manthey 'Grello' Porsche of Thomas Preining which suffered a spin at the Mercedes-AMG Arena - however, at the end of lap one, he brought his Juta Audi into the pits to switch from wets to slicks, a move copied by much of the SP9 field, including both Falken Porsches, which left the No. 27 Red Bull Team ABT Lamborghini in the lead of the race, after opting not to switch tires. Further back, the Manthey Porsche was able to claw back time as they did not need to pit at the end of lap one, due to starting on slick tires and despite the fact later into the race Preining would suffer an off on dropped oils and brush the barriers - luckily not causing any serious damage.

The Falken Porsches would assume the lead of the race in the second hour, and largely go on to control the race until the finish, with the Manthey Porsche gradually rising up to third.

In the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, the Cup 2 class was won by the No. 921 Mühlner Motorsport Pro entry of Arne Hoffmeister, David Jahn and Tim Scheerbath and the Cup 3 class was won by the No. 959 SRS Team Sorg Rennsport Pro entry of Heiko Eichenberg and Harley Haughton.

Elsewhere, the other class winners were as follows:

  • AT2 class was won by the No. 644 Max Kruse Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of Dominik Fugel, Marcel Fugel and Benjamin Leuchter by default as they were the only entry in their class and they were classified as a finisher.
  • Similarly, the SP-Pro class was won by the No. 347 Toyo Tires by Ring Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR Pro of Andreas Gülden, Tim Sandtler and Marc Hennerici as the only entry in their class.
  • SP10 was won by the No. 187 FK Performance Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 of Tobias Wahl, Nick Wüstenhagen and Ranko Mijatovic.
  • SP8T was won by the No. 150 Bilstein Black Falcon BMW M4 GT4 Evo of Steve Alvarez Brown, Jimmy Broadbent, Misha Charoudin and Manuel "Manny" Metzger.
  • The AT3 class was won by the No. 333 Max Kruse Racing Audi RS3 LMS TCR of "Peter Hansen" and "Lars Nielsen".
  • SP3T was won by the No. 312 Schmickler Performance powered by Ravenol Porsche 982 Turbo of Achim Wawer, Claudius Karch and Maik Rönnefarth.
  • The TCR class was won by the No. 777 Goroyan RT by sharky-racing Audi RS3 LMS TCR of Artur Goroyan, Roman Mavlanov and Danny Brink as the only entrants in their class.
  • The BMW M240i Cup class was won by the No. 1 Adrenalin Motorsport Team Mainhattan Wheels entry of Sven Markert, Kevin Wambach and Marvin Marino.
  • VT2-RWD was won by the No. 500 Adrenalin Motorsport Team Mainhattan Wheels BMW 330i entry of Philipp Leisen, Philipp Stahlschmidt and Daniel Zils.
  • The V6 class was won by the No. 396 Adrenalin Motorsport Team Mainhattan Wheels Porsche Cayman of Klaus Faßbender, Christian Büllesbach, Andreas Schettler and Daniel Zils.
  • VT2-F+4WD was won by the No. 467 CSRacing Hyundai i30N entry of Michael Bohrer and Gerritt Holthaus.
  • The V5 class was won by the No. 440 QTQ Raceperformance Porsche Cayman of Florian Ebener, Mirco Böhmisch, Andreas Müller and Bernd Kleeschulte.
  • The BMW 325i Challenge Class was won by the No. 111 TEAM JSCompetition entry of Jonas Spölgen and Eugen Becker.
  • SP4 was won by the No. 252 GITI TIRE MOTORSPORT BY WS RACING BMW 325i of Bernd Kuepper, Kevin Küpper and Matthias Möller.
  • The VT3 class was won by the No. 460 Keeevin Sports and Racing BMW 335i entry of Marco Schmitz, Flavia Pellegrino Fernandes and Mark Trompeter, as the only entrants in their class.
