IMDB Links for Formula One Teams
[edit]There's a user who's been adding the IMDB links to a bunch of Formula One Team Wikipedia pages, sometimes removing their navboxes. Not sure if there's anything specific about it but IMO their IMDB pages are irrelevant and don't need to be there. Do we leave them for the sake of completeness and if not, would anyone help me revert all the changes? I didn't want to ping them nor leave a notice because it's not really vandalism or anything of the sort. QWisps (talk) 04:24, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- I would say that they are completely unnecessary. They don't add anything. But at the same time, I don't see the benefit of going through and removing them. The only issue with these links is that the IMBd pages for these teams are techninally incomplete. SSSB (talk) 06:18, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I removed the ones from the teams I have in my watchlist (specifically because they removed the Racing Bulls navbox) but I couldn't be bothered going and undoing all of them. QWisps (talk) 06:40, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that they are unnecessary. MB2437 14:17, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed. I'm not sure there's any benefit there at all. Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:52, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
Vettel status
[edit]There is a discussion at Sebastian Vettel regarding whether or not we should describe him as a "former racing driver". Would like a couple more opinions so the dubious tag can be removed. MB2437 18:57, 5 September 2025 (UTC)

[edit]A discussion has started at here about whether records can be listed without being sourced. PääsukeH (talk) 22:41, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

Race abbreviation for Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix
[edit]We need a race abbreviation for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. What do we like: "BAR"? "CAT"? Something else? Template:F1GP 2020–2029 currently uses "CAT". DH85868993 (talk) 09:47, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
- For starters, Template:F1GP 2020-2029 should not be listing 2026 Grands Prix until the start of 2026 at the very earliest. Right now, it shows a list of red links and redirects to other pages and is therefore useless.
To the issue at hand, BAR makes more sense. Firstly, as was pointed out in an edit summary, the event name is being shortened Barcelona Grand Prix (including by the official F1 ticket vendor; the title page uses the official name, but further down they do not). If we dont follow that, we can go down the Las Vegas/Sao Paulo GP route (they are LVG and SAP respectively) and go for "BCL" or "BCC", but I think that CAT is the weakest option. SSSB (talk) 10:03, 20 September 2025 (UTC) - BAR is more appropriate and recognisable, in my opinion, per SSSB. MB2437 12:49, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
- In my limited experience the more common everyday abbreviation for Barcelona is "BCN," after the airport. "BAR" would also be fine. Namelessposter (talk) 14:07, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
- +1, BCN is also what came to my mind first (might be an avgeek thing), but I agree that either BCN or BAR work. CAT seems a little odd per SSSB. GalacticVelocity08 (talk) 19:53, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
- Just seen that BCN is the commonly accepted abbreviation for the city in the Barcelona infobox. MB2437 19:57, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
