Change "can not" to "may not"
[edit]I suggest to change (change marked with bold text):
If an article is deleted, its history is removed and thus its content cannot be reused on Wikipedia—even under the same article title—unless attribution is otherwise provided (or the page undeleted).
to
If an article is deleted, its history is removed and thus its content may not be reused on Wikipedia—even under the same article title—unless attribution is otherwise provided (or the page undeleted).
If you have a copy of the deleted article, you can reuse it, but you may not. Christian75 (talk) 11:47, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Change the Repairing insufficient attribution link in Translating from other language Wikimedia projects as it leads to Search:, not the actual section of the guideline. Splendidfoolisheditor (talk) 19:38, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
Copying from Grokipedia
[edit]Félix An added a section for Grokipedia, and I reverted. The replies at Talk:Grokipedia#Can WP:COPYWITHIN be used from CC-licensed articles on Grokipedia? are skeptical. The comments at WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Grokipedia are overwhelmingly negative, and my reading is that their criticisms also extend to copying. Consensus for a blanket prohibition on its use in articles seems likely. Flatscan (talk) 04:36, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- I think I should restore it. I mentioned that citing it as a source is not acceptable, but it can be used as an aid for writing through COPYWITHIN since it's indeed CC-licensed. The actual cited sources are obviously sources that are on WP:RSP, not Grokipedia itself, just like we wouldn't violate WP:RSPWP. Félix An (talk) 12:11, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- Not really seeing the benefits in mentioning just this one content fork when we already cover the topic in a broadsense. Moxy🍁 21:13, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm with Moxy. It seems rather undue to add a standalone section just for this; importing content copied from sites like Fandom is much more common (and frequently problematic in terms of copyright, BLP, and source-text integrity... ) GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 04:49, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- I strongly object to including anything about Grokipedia on the COPYWITHIN page. Copying within WP ≠ copying from any site with a CC-SA4 license, and Grokipedia is not within WP. It appears that the Grokipedia articles that have a CC notice at the bottom of the page were essentially copied from WP, so just go to the WP article and copy from there if it's appropriate.
- If editors want to read a Grokipedia article and check any new, potentially useful sources for additional content, that's fine, but that's quite different from copying any of the text or using Grokipedia as a source. FactOrOpinion (talk) 13:25, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- I endorse this opinion. Grokipedia is not a sister project and is not within the scope of this guideline. There is nothing particularly special from a licensing and attribution standpoint that distinguishes Grokipedia from other sites with a free license. -- Whpq (talk) 14:03, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

- Félix An commented at the RSN discussion, mentioning this guideline by its WP:COPYWITHIN shortcut. I requested input – linking here – in that thread. Flatscan (talk) 04:31, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Below is the text of the section in case anyone wants to restore it:
Copying from Grokipedia
[edit]Grokipedia is an AI-powered online encyclopedia developed by xAI. Many articles on Grokipedia are derivative works of Wikipedia articles and contain a Creative Commons license. In this case, content can be copied legally as per the guidelines in this page, but it must comply with WP:LLM (as articles on Grokipedia are revised with the Grok AI model), and the copied text must be carefully checked for factual accuracy and compliance with Wikipedia policies such as WP:NPOV and WP:RS. Direct citations of Grokipedia are not acceptable as per WP:RSPGROKIPEDIA.
