Valle Vista (Spanish for "View Valley") is an unincorporated area in Riverside County, California, United States and is located in the San Jacinto Valley. Valle Vista is adjacent to and east of the cities of San Jacinto and Hemet. The population was 16,194 at the 2020 census, up from 11,036 at the 2010 census. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Valle Vista as a census-designated place (CDP).

[edit]According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.1 square miles (18 km2), of which, 6.9 square miles (18 km2) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) of it (2.94%) is water.

[edit]Valle Vista, generally has year-round pleasant weather, with hot summers and mild, wet winters. On average, the warmest month is August. The highest recorded temperature was 115 °F (46 °C) in 2004. On average, the coolest month is December. The lowest recorded temperature was 9 °F (−13 °C) in 1974. The maximum average precipitation occurs in February.

Demographics

[edit]The 2020 United States census reported that Valle Vista had a population of 16,194. The population density was 2,348.3 inhabitants per square mile (906.7/km2). The racial makeup of Valle Vista was 54.2% White, 5.1% African American, 2.3% Native American, 2.0% Asian, 0.3% Pacific Islander, 19.9% from other races, and 16.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 42.6% of the population.[5]
The census reported that 99.8% of the population lived in households, 25 people (0.2%) lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 8 people (0.0%) were institutionalized.[5]
There were 5,705 households, out of which 31.7% included children under the age of 18, 46.2% were married-couple households, 8.0% were cohabiting couple households, 27.4% had a female householder with no partner present, and 18.4% had a male householder with no partner present. 25.3% of households were one person, and 14.8% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.83.[5] There were 3,927 families (68.8% of all households).[6]
The age distribution was 23.6% under the age of 18, 7.9% aged 18 to 24, 23.6% aged 25 to 44, 25.8% aged 45 to 64, and 19.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40.3 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.3 males.[5]
There were 6,051 housing units at an average density of 877.5 units per square mile (338.8 units/km2), of which 5,705 (94.3%) were occupied. Of these, 74.5% were owner-occupied, and 25.5% were occupied by renters.[5]
2023 estimates
[edit]In 2023, the US Census Bureau estimated that 16.1% of the population were foreign-born. Of all people aged 5 or older, 70.2% spoke only English at home, 27.4% spoke Spanish, 0.7% spoke other Indo-European languages, 1.0% spoke Asian or Pacific Islander languages, and 0.8% spoke other languages. Of those aged 25 or older, 79.0% were high school graduates and 14.8% had a bachelor's degree.[7]
The median household income was $61,799, and the per capita income was $28,404. About 14.2% of families and 18.3% of the population were below the poverty line.[8]
Government
[edit]In the California State Legislature, Valle Vista is in the 19th senatorial district, represented by Republican Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, and the 47th Assembly district, represented by Republican Greg Wallis.[9]
In the United States House of Representatives, Valle Vista is in California's 25th congressional district, represented by Democrat Raul Ruiz.[10]
Parks and recreation
[edit]Deputy Brett M. Harris Park is a county park at 25175 Fairview Ave named after a member of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department who served the community. He died from a traffic crash while on duty.[11]
Education
[edit]It is in the Hemet Unified School District.[12]
