Comparing deleted contributions
[edit]Hi Y. Could I get you to compare the deleted draft Draft:Prediction of the deadliest pandemic attack of the world, created by the blocked user Barat Venkit, with the following URL? http://www.atheratisuraksha.com/4415/
The user Grurukripa was blocked a few days ago for WP:CORPNAME, and their user sandbox created was deleted as a copyvio of http://www.atheratisuraksha.com/products/ateendriya-suraksha/. I think we might have a potential sockpuppet farm on our hands. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:10, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Revert per prior AfD discussion
[edit]It is proper to revert to deletion per a prior AfD discussion. But only if there are not changes, that would challenge the basis of the prior discussion. Where in the passage of time, an article becomes the subject of refs that now satisfy GNG - and especially when you can see so by looking that the present article, which reflects those refs, it is not sufficient to only look at the prior discussion. If, however, you believe the newly written article does not, as well, satisfy GNG, then certainly bring it to AfD. But the one in question does not appear to pose any question. It satisfies GNG, as it has many RS refs now devoted to the subject of the article. (Note, I gather that you and the subject attended the same school, but even if she was a nerd there, that's not sufficient reason ..) :) --2603:7000:2143:8500:95F7:477A:7FA6:7EB5 (talk) 03:20, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

- Great! As to the recency of the discussion - please check it, and compare it to all the cited sources dates, and compare the refs in the two articles. It is an enormous difference. It was not GNG before. Deletion was proper. But this is an entirely different article, as you can see. Oh - and I didnt know g4, so thanks for that, but I see it very sensibly says "It excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version". Why do you assume I am not a good faith editor? Your accusations along these lines are completely false and are upsetting - is it your goal to upset editors who are trying to add proper content to the project? For what purpose? It does not help the project to drive away good content contributors with baseless accusations. And have you checked the articles as I asked - they are completely different. - I am not promoting the person. I have created an article on a person she is running against. Why are you assuming - given the contrary facts - bad faith? It is normal to add proper links. Thats what you should do if you create an article. It helps the project. If one link was in error, possibly, that is not bad faith. You seem for some reason to be assuming bad faith, without basis. Surely you want to improve the project, and surely you think proper links help that, and surely you understand that if the article is non promotional and I created an article likewise of a competing candidate, I am clearly trying to improve the project. Admin Y, you are completely wrong here. There is not one word in deletion policy which says that the "redirect" outcome of a deletion discussion applies to all articles on the subject, no matter how different they are from the version debated at AFD. AFD applies to texts, not subjects. As someone who's participated in DRV discussions for more than a decade, this principle has been repeatedly and uncontroversially invoked; editors are often told that no DRV is necessary if they wish to write a new or substantially different article text. Frankly, your refusal to provide a policy basis for your action, and your transparently false allegation of bad faith, make me question your adherence to administrative expectations.   Wikipedia Day is always a big day for Wikimedia NYC. While we cannot meet in person, we still have something special planned. We will begin the event with the debut of a new video celebrating our community. This will be followed by a panel discussion with some of the people you'll see in the video talking about Wikipedia's 20th anniversary, Wikimedia New York City, and the amazing work they do on Wikimedia projects. The event will be broadcast live via YouTube. Feel free to ask questions for the panel through the chat! We will also have some NYC wiki trivia you can participate in, with confectionery prizes.

Bejay Mulenga
[edit]Hi Y, the page Bejay Mulenga was very recently marked for speedy deletion. I contested the deletion tag within 2 to 3 hours, challenging the reasons why I felt it did not meet the criteria of speedy deletion. Afterwards, I contacted User:Onel5969(talk) the administrator who marked it letting him know that I had contested and asked if there were any specific points to tweak or advice about improving the page as it definitely isn't masquerading as advertising or ambiguous promotion. I believe the tone of the article is neutral. I ask in good faith that if there were elements such as having the company website listed in the external links removed then allow me to make such amendment/s. He said that would be fine, but unfortunately, the page was indeed speedily deleted. I'm reaching out to you in hopes of resolving the matter and getting more clarity behind the decision. Also, is it "best practice" to have a more experienced editor/administrator look over an article before moving it into the live space? Thanks for your time. [edit] | Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. How we will see unregistered users

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

New administrator activity requirement
[edit]The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.
Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:
- Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
- Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period
Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

[edit]Hello! I was looking to recreate the page Kevin M. Scott which was deleted by you. It is listed to have been deleted as the closing of a PROD, but I can't find the original PROD anywhere. Could you tell me what the page said before it was deleted and link to the PROD that resulted in deletion/tell me under what grounds it was deleted?

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Speed delete for the Tk Wilson article

- I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent speedy deletion of my article under the A7 criterion. After reviewing the guidelines outlined for A7, I believe the deletion may not have been appropriate due to the following reasons:
- 1. Credible Claim of Significance:
- The article contained a statement that attributes noteworthiness to the subject. As per the guidelines, any statement that plausibly claims significance, even without sourcing, ensures that A7 does not apply. For example, my article mentioned Tk Wilson is Jamaican FASHION Model, in which he is, TK Wilson is the male Fashion Faces of the Caribbean for 2023, Many of he's audience share a keen interest in he's unique fashion sense. Additionally, he as garnered attention from models and agents who are eager to learn more about him and he's journey as an emerging face in the fashion industry, check he's google knowledge panel for confirmation (https://g.co/kgs/frfoSSp) . This constitutes a credible claim of significance as it highlights a noteworthy contribution or achievement.
- 2. Notability vs. Significance:
- While I acknowledge that the subject may still require further evidence of notability under Wikipedia’s broader guidelines, significance is a lower standard. The existence of a plausible claim of significance in the article demonstrates potential for further research to uncover notability. Deletion under A7 denies this opportunity prematurely.
- 3. Plausibility of the Claim:
- According to the two-part test, the claim must be both credible and significant. The statement(s) in my article were plausible and, if true, would demonstrate notability or justify further investigation. There was no indication that the claim was blatantly false or constituted a hoax.
- 4. References and Sources:
- Although the article may have lacked inline citations, the absence of sources does not invalidate a credible claim of significance under A7. The potential for additional research should have been considered before applying the deletion tag.
- 5. Alternative Actions:
- If there were concerns about the article’s content, it could have been tagged for improvement, redirected, or proposed for deletion (AfD) instead of speedy deletion. This would have allowed time for editors to address issues and potentially substantiate the subject’s notability.
- I kindly request a reconsideration of this deletion, or at the very least, an opportunity to improve the article to meet Wikipedia’s standards. I am more than willing to work collaboratively to ensure the article aligns with the platform’s guidelines.

[edit]Hello. Thanks for deleting this article earlier. The same editor has recreated it Dush, Egypt. It looks slightly less infringing this time, though there is still cut and pasted from the same external website. I've left a note on their talk page asking then to remove the infringing content, and I'll look back later, but I don't know whether you wish to take further action against the offending editor. I am slightly against deletion again because I think the location merits an article, but obviously don't condone copyright violations. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:25, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- I have given book references and an ABC News reference for this article. Unfortunately, since there is so little online information on Dush on the internet, I have had to read the book reference that I downloaded from Academia.edu about this site. I minimized web references to the original Touregypt site...except for 2 references out of 12. Please understand that Wikimedia Commons has an actual category for the temple on this site which I did not create and yet no one has made an article on Dush, Egypt. Finally, the Dush Treasure which was found at this site in 1989 exists and there are Photos here and over Here on flickr but I cannot use them since the license is not Free (All Rights Reserved). - Zahi Hawass himself also commented on the Treasure of Dush in the ABC News source in 2005 where it had previously been poorly laid out in the Egyptian Museum of Cairo to give it more notability to the public and the media.
