If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 03:17, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
Respectfully, provided information is not for compensation nor promotional. It is an article similarly, of other artists/groups. I asked a question hoping for answers, detailing how to add pictures and magazine articles, which provide needed context and credibility. This shows authenticity and factually. The article was not written maliciously, nor; profitable. The article's intent is referencing many asking/wondering about OTL. If you or someone reading would be willing and kind enough to offer article writing assistance, it would be highly welcomed. I offer a sincere apology, and look forward to rectifying this situation, timely. Kind Regards
Decline reason:
There's multiple problems here, which you have not addressed.
- Your username is the same as the name of the group you were editing about. This strongly implies that you are connected to the group in some way, which is a conflict of interest. It also is disallowed as it implies that the account is shared by multiple people, or otherwise represents a group. This is a clear violation of our username policy. If you would like to be unblocked, you will need to propose a new username representing you as an individual. You may use the
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}template code to do this. - Whether or not you think the edits were promotional, they were. For example, you say
The article's intent is referencing many asking/wondering about OTL
-- please see WP:YESPROMO.
Any further appeal you make should directly answer these questions:
- What username would you like to go by instead of this one?
- What is your relationship to the group you were editing about?
- If unblocked, what kinds of articles would you edit?
--Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 06:10, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Thank you, Mr. Chris. I appreciate the information. The username was created and chosen expressing loyalty and how much of a fan I am. Please update my username. The preferred username is, Tatum Echoes (my name). My affiliation with OTL is simply, a huge fan! Honestly; this idea occurred (last week) while at an award show (OTL received an Icons Award). While at a table of 12 (not including individuals seated at surrounding tables), someone asked, "why doesn't Wikipedia acknowledge, OTL?" Afterwards, while mingling, I mentioned I would create an OTL Wikipedia page/article. Once unblocked, my goal is to edit information regarding admired Artists/groups/producers. Similarly, OTL, especially; if from the south.
Hope this helps and answers questions.

- If you were to create an article about OTL, can you demonstrate with reliable sources that they meet our music-related notability guideline? --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 08:05, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
I believe I am able to create an OTL article, with reliable sources. However, I welcome and ask assistance from yourself (or someone else) ensuring no further issues or problems.
Respectfully
PS: I have a few magazine articles, music, and a promo commercial, if helpful and useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by On That Level (OTL) (talk • contribs)
- Do these sources establish notability defined by the guideline I linked above? Can you post links to the sources (assume they are available online) and articulate how they demonstrate notability? --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 08:55, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. On That Level (OTL) (talk) 14:15, 21 November 2024 (UTC)- Good Morning!
- I have actual magazine articles, music (audio), and video, not links.
- I can/will email, if it solidifies credibility.
- I would like to update my username and use, Tatum Echoes.

- You need to copy and paste the
{{unblock-spamun}}incantation I gave you in the declined unblock request and fill in the parameters. You should paste it into the "source" editor, not the "visual" editor; the visual editor will try to preserve it visually, but you want the system interpreting it as a template. For example, the template code{{done}}produces this:
Done. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 08:34, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

@Rsjaffe: Given the username change request, that the user doesn't apparently have a COI, and that we've discussed WP:RS above, do you have any objection to an unblock? --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 04:15, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Crazycomputers: No objections. Fine to unblock. Thanks for your assistance. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 04:22, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Printed sources are valid, provided you can give details about the information you are citing (publication name, publication date, publisher name, author name, article title, page number, etc.) Assuming that your account is unblocked, please refer to the guides Help:Your first article and Help:Referencing for beginners. You can also ask for help at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, a forum for new editors with questions. Good luck. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:40, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Does anyone know how soon before my account is unblocked? I have been waiting and hoping to hear something. — Preceding unsigned comment added by On That Level (OTL) (talk • contribs)
- Please remember to sign your posts after leaving a comment. It is necessary to see who said what, and when.
- Like all other Wikipedia users, administrators are volunteers. As such, there is no service level agreement or deadline. There are a limited number of admins and a long queue of unblock requests. It may be days or even weeks before your request is evaluated. Until then, there is nothing left for you to do except patiently wait your turn. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:13, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Good Evening, All... Happy Holidays!
I truly appreciate having my page unblocked, Many Thanks!
Am I able to create an OTL article/page, or does that remain restricted? Once allowed, will someone assist with creating, ensuring no violations?
Kindly, T.E.

Please help me with... Please assist with creating an OTL article/page. I have not logged into wikipedia, in months [actually, 1 year]. I've left a message for my assigned mentor, however; they've been inactive, quite some time. I welcome the page/article written via someone here, or; [would be] willing to hire an outside writer.
Kindly;
T.E. Tatum Echoes (talk) 06:15, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- I gather 'OTL' is your music ensemble? I hate to tell you, but the chances of an editor attending to these help requests being interested in writing about your band are practically zero. You would have a better chance posting a request at WP:Requested articles, but that probably still wouldn't get you anywhere, because many requests go unfulfilled. Your only realistic option really is to write it yourself.
- WP:GOLDENRULE outlines the process for creating article content based on sources. And WP:BAND is the relevant notability guideline your draft would need to satisfy, or alternatively the general WP:GNG one which applies to any subject.
- If you head to WP:YFA, there is a wizard that steps you through the process, culminating in submission of your draft to review by independent reviewers at WP:AFC.
- Good luck! -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:36, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- I appreciate your timely response. However, no; OTL is not my ensemble. I'm simply a fan of their music/brand, and; what they accomplished, yesteryear.
- Quick question:
- Would hiring an outside writer, work best?
- Also, how will one know if restrictions remain, or; if able to create a page/article?
- Last logged in, I was informed, I was no longer blocked. Haven't tried publishing, since blocking again, looms. Tatum Echoes (talk) 07:00, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- You are not currently blocked, you were unblocked on 1 December 2024. You are therefore free to edit Wikipedia.
- Thank you for clarifying that this is not your ensemble. That removes one possible concern, namely conflict of interest (COI), which otherwise would have needed addressing.
- You are of course free to engage a paid editor, if you wish, although I would strongly advise against it, as there are a lot of unscrupulous editors out there touting their services (and now that you've expressed interest in this, you may well be approached by one or more!), who will happily take your money and may not deliver what they promise; see WP:SCAM for more on this.
- In any case, whoever writes the article will have to follow the process outlined in GOLDENRULE and satisfy the BAND guideline. This assumes that the ensemble actually is notable enough to warrant an article, and that sufficient sources exist to prove that. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:36, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- Good Afternoon!
- Quick question(s).
- With most music magazine companies, no longer existing. How are artists appearances &/ or interviews, verified?
- I ask because, I have [a couple] OTL articles.
- But, sources are actual print, no longer available, via internet.
- Would uploading articles, & photos of awards, count as viable sources?
- Does Wikipedia [admins] prohibit uploading files?
- Many Thanks!
- T.E. Tatum Echoes (talk) 20:00, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- You can cite offline sources, you just need to provide full bibliographic details so that the source can be reliably identified for verification; see WP:OFFLINE for advice. There is no need to upload scans of articles, nor is that most likely allowed as it would almost certainly be a copyright violation.
- Note that interviews are non-independent (and possibly also non-reliable) primary sources, which do not help establish notability. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:00, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Are uploaded magazine articles allowed?
[edit]Hope all is well!
Question(s):
I have a few magazine articles [& award photos] featuring OTL, no longer available. The magazine companies are out of circulation, and award shows, non existent.
Are those deemed credible, if uploaded [along with information]? OTL was played on WBHJ FM [Birmingham, Alabama 2000 - 2004], I have recorded data; via cassette tapes. Would this count as a credible source?
Many Thanks,
