good afternoon,

I'm writing about the "notable naval officers" section and the entry for Captain Moore. I am his son in law - married to one of his seven children (I also served in the same squadron as Capt Moore)

I would be interested to know why you added his name. Actually i'm sure the family would like to know. They are finding there are parts of his career that they are not familiar with and very desirous of any new info.

There is a footnote number 35 at the end of that paragraph that shows where the information came from. Footnote 35 says, "Navy Department Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D.C. Records archived at the National Personnel Records Center, (Military Personnel Records), 9700 Page Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63132-5100". I suggest you can write to them for more information. List of attacks on the United States

Hey TadgStirkland401! I came across your profile over on WikiProject Military history, where you indicated you enjoyed editing topics around American military history. I've been working on a big project over the last few weeks: List of attacks on the United States. The aim is to have a list of every time the U.S. (government/military) was attacked, but not when the U.S. was attacking. My hope is to create list of attacks by the United States once this list is finished.

Sorry for the rant above. I wanted to see if you would be interested in helping me put together some of the summaries for the list. I am fairly sure most if not all of the attacks themselves are on the list. But, I'm still working to get the summaries and references put together for each of them. List of US military aircraft engines

I'm not sure who I should ask about this but would it be possible to create a list of aircraft engines used by the US military including piston, turboprop, turboshaft, turbojet, turbofan, and future types XA-(100-103), etc Suro1234 (talk) 07:22, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Suro1234... I don't know why it wouldn't be possible. Personally, I don't know enough about the topic to begin something like that myself. But, I'm sure it could be very useful on Wikipedia. This might just work. I don’t know much about aircraft engines, same as you about editing. First thing to figure out, should we focus on fixed-wing aircraft or should we include rotary-wing? Should we include UAVs of all kinds? Last thing we need to consider is how to organize the list. Probably the biggest concern is that anything we add to the list MUST have significant media coverage that we can cite in the list as a reliable source. it would include all of the types you mentioned, they should be categorized by type of engine not type of aircraft it is used on, so turboprop, turboshaft, piston. Would probably only include combustion engines and not electric motors at least until we add all the combustion engines. There should be significant coverage and a lot of these engines already have their own pages so it would just be putting them all on one sorted page if that makes sense Suro1234 (talk) 22:35, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I’m not completely upset by it. I do have lots of questions… and there might be better ways to deal with it. Each attack seems to cost way more in ordnance. I'm a leftie, so my question is, is this warfare? Or law enforcement? To what extent are American citizens concerned about this seemingly significant blurring of the boundaries? I'm also a little suspicious about how much % of the drug imports these boats represent, surely a tiny fraction. So how much is this just a PR stunt to foster feeling against Venezuela/Maduro, and to avoid the much murkier and more difficult challenges of corruption+cartel money+intimidation that allows drugs through the land border?

Truly, I am not trying to get people agitated, or get into a political argument. One can easily do so, but there are also enormous issues of (1) war versus law enforcement, and (2) effectiveness and efficiency here. Buckshot06 (talk) 10:58, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as to your first bullet point, since the end of WWII, the US has conducted probably hundreds of "peacetime" military attacks furthering their stated goals at the time. As one example, how many “peacetime” drone attacks were justified during the Obama administration? At least one killed American citizens. So, no… None of these current attacks would be considered acts of war anymore than any previous attacks.

As to your second point, I also have questions about the efficacy of this new operation Why use multimillion dollar systems and ordnance, along with untold personnel resources, to destroy a small fishing boat?
