Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Shyamalswiki, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your edit to Jayanthi Kumaresh does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Thank you for the response. Is there a way to get access to the content that was removed, this will help save time to avoid reformatting etc. while I add each section along with the relevant citation links Shyamalswiki (talk) 03:56, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can access the history by pressing the "History" tab at the top of the article. Then you can press a timestamp to see the article at that point in time. Each edit is saved as its own revision. Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 15:32, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. You saved me a whole lot of time. So, can you help me understand - does each line need to be validated with relevant citations or is it one per paragraph ? How does it work ? There are about 150 citation links about the subject that I can find online. Not sure how many we have to add. Shyamalswiki (talk) 21:53, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To answer your question: every statement in a Wikipedia article must be verifiable through a reliable, third-party, independent source. That means sources should ideally be published by major news outlets, academic publications, books, or reputable media—not the subject’s own website, social media, or interviews they gave (those are considered self-published or primary and usually not sufficient by themselves).
If one good source covers an entire paragraph's worth of claims, you can place it at the end of the paragraph. But if the paragraph contains several distinct facts or claims—each needing their own support—then it's best to cite each sentence individually. Basically, add citations where a reasonable reader might ask: "Says who?"
Also, the biggest issue wasn’t just the lack of citations, but the tone. Phrases like "unparalleled torchbearer", "impressive 40 years", and "her journey embodies the essence" are considered promotional and non-neutral. Articles should be written in a way that even the subject’s harshest critic couldn’t reasonably accuse the article of bias. Think: if someone who didn’t like the subject read it, would they agree that the facts are solid and the wording is balanced?
You're definitely on the right track with wanting to improve the article with sources—that’s awesome! If you have about 150 potential sources, that’s a great start. Just be selective and make sure what you add reflects what those sources actually say, with a neutral tone. Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 22:31, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the detailed response. I will modify the content in small sections with the relevant citations and get it approved. Shyamalswiki (talk) 23:42, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jayanthi Kumaresh

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Jay8g. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Jayanthi Kumaresh have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Jay8g [VTE] 07:23, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please be more specific about which sections/ lines need to be modified ? If you notice the history, I edited the entire content to make it sound neutral and added a lot of citations to validate each line as much as possible. The intention is not to advertise and not to promote. This article is about a very accomplished artist who has been nationally recognized for her contributions. I am just trying to tell her story to the world. Thank you very much for helping. Shyamalswiki (talk) 16:46, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What is your connection to the article subject? It appears that you have a WP:COI. Jay8g [VTE] 02:30, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am a student and a fan of the artist. I read about the wp:coi and will place a connected contributor tag in the page Shyamalswiki (talk) 11:52, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also I noticed your suggestion - Alter: url, title. URLs might have been anonymized. Add: isbn, publisher.
Thank you for helping make the article better. Can you explain some more about what you have said. Regarding the publisher, whenever I found the article's author from the news site, I added it. For the ones, that were not there, I added the news media company name. I am not sure how to find the isbn for the news article urls. Shyamalswiki (talk) 12:09, 19 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

[edit]

Information icon Hi Shyamalswiki! I noticed that you recently made an edit and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Jay8g [VTE] 04:13, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for the clarification. I am learning this process and will be cautious going forward. Now, which section of the article seems like promotional ? Kindly help me identify and fix it. Shyamalswiki (talk) 20:32, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I have outline most of the error in the Jayanthi Kumaresh, and if you are willing to fix it, you can. Next time make sure when you add a citation that there is the title (title depends on source) aligned in the citation template. This will prevent any redlinks. Thank you.

P.S. You can find title in the template section by clicking on the citation and edit then scrolling to the point. Wh67890 (talk) 04:01, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for going over and adding pointers to fix. I do have more content to add and will be fixing the issues outlined. Do you still think that the lead section needs to be rewritten or can that warning be removed ? I added more content but looks like over the last few hours several editors have revised and removed from the lead section Shyamalswiki (talk) 13:39, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
