[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited White Cloud Township, Nodaway County, Missouri, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pumpkin Center, Missouri. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Move warring
[edit]On December 19, you moved the article Holland Branch to Holland Branch (Platte River tributary). On January 4, this move was reverted by Bunnypranav. Per WP:RMUM, undiscussed moves may be reverted if controversial, and should not be repeated without consensus (as you just did). Instead, if you think your initial move was correct, please start a requested move discussion. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:38, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- This also applies to your move of McGuire Branch to McGuire Branch (Castille Creek tributary), which was reverted by Rusalkii and which you repeated today. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:42, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, I will begin requested move discsussions instead of repeating moves that have been reverted. Though, I still don't really understand why 90% of the tributary clarification moves I make are reviewed and approved and 10% aren't. I understand that is because different people who review them have different subjective opinions on what is best but as a new editor I do find it confusing. Thanks for informing me about proper protocol. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 21:22, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- The general policy to minimize parenthetical disambiguation as much as possible - so Holland Branch is always preferred over Holland Branch (Platte River tributary), unless there is another Holland Branch elsewhere that could be confused with this one. Unfortunately editors doing redirect patrolling often do very superficial checks (I know I've been guilty of this) and basically just look at it and go "hmm, looks like a vaguely sane redirect, marking as reviewed". I would be surprised if most of the editors approving the other moves though this was best, as opposed to not obviously a disaster and not worth looking into further. Rusalkii (talk) 22:06, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarifying. So unless there are (or going to be) 2 or more articles with the same name I do not need to add a parenthetical disambiguation. That makes sense - I will do such. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 01:05, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Looking for more information on Dockery, Missouri, Ray County
[edit]Hello! I am trying to help a friend figure out something about the Dockery area of Ray County MO, more specifically, what the parameters are for this area and if her property falls inside of them. We have looked at maps, coordinates, etc. but don't really understand. I see that Dockery is not listed as a township or a village, but as "other", so I'm thinking perhaps it was an old settlement that got "swallowed up" more or less by larger townships and villages. Anyways, if you have any more information or light you could shed on this it would be much appreciated!
Thank you!! Confusedinmissouri (talk) 19:38, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for the question; I hope I can be helpful. I can confirm that Dockery does not have a legal jurisdiction presently. It is not listed as a city, village, or census-designated place, and thus does not have a present recognized boundary. As for its historic boundary, I do not think there is any information about that. It is not in the Sanborn Map Collection nor is it in this 1930 plat book that I found online. The Ray County GIS (ray.integritygis.com) has nothing particularly helpful though there are a few subdivisions in the area that if you could find their original plat maps may have some information about Dockery's previous boundary. Honestly, I do not even know if it was previously incorporated, just because it had a post office does not mean it was incorporated and thus had a boundary. Perhaps there are older plat books not digitized online that are in some library in Ray County, but I believe I have looked as thoroughly as I am reasonably able to. Dockery may have merely been the name of a place that never became formalized.
- I hope this helps, for what it is worth my core research has been into NW missouri and I only happened to edit this article because I was 'adopting' articles about streams into articles about places. Thanks, let me know what you find out. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 20:06, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your quick response! That is super helpful- and completely makes sense that it's not a legal jurisdiction- so many places around here are like that. Saint Cloud, Stet, etc. I believe my friend is also going to go to the Ray County History Museum and see if she can find out anything else, and if she does I'll be sure to update you!
- Thanks again =) Confusedinmissouri (talk) 16:44, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

Ways to improve Dallas, Missouri
[edit]Hello, SamuelNelsonGISP,
Thank you for creating Dallas, Missouri.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
May not meet the Notability requirements of WP:NPLACE ... ideally, some more sources would be discovered & more detail added to the article. Not every abandoned town deserves an article.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Noleander}}

- @Noleander: Hello, I am intrigued that this of all articles would potentially meet this criteria since I have three histories that discuss this topic. I'll take your challenge to expand upon the article, but I'd like more clarification of what specifically causes you to mark this as potentially unnotable? SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 16:33, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not saying it is NOT notable, and I am not an expert in the WP:NPLACE policy. I added the note in the article as part of the WP:New Page Patrol volunteer work I'm doing this month. Looking at WP:NPLACE it looks like most obscure places are handed on a case-by-case basis. I suggest posting a query at Wikipedia talk:Notability (geographic features) ... the editors there can probably give great guidance. Noleander (talk) 16:43, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Ways to improve Maryville R-II School District
[edit]Hello, SamuelNelsonGISP,
Thank you for creating Maryville R-II School District.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
WP notability policies require multiple, independent, third-party sources to discuss the topic of the article in SIGNIFICANT depth (example: three sources, 3 paragraphs about the school district). The sources in this article appear to be closely related to the dept, or mere listings in a list/index.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Noleander}}

[edit] Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Hopkins, Missouri, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:09, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- I re-added the motto with a newspaper citation, though I'm quite a bit more concerned about you removing the image of the post office, and water tower. What makes an image mal-formed? SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 13:21, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Look in the history of the article, and you'll see you messed up adding the image. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:11, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- you removed the image because I put 200 instead of 200px? I feel it would be easier to have corrected that, especially since the mistake was not even visible to the page, but took closer inspection to notice it. I fixed it and the image is back. SamuelNelsonGISP (talk) 15:42, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- No, I reverted it because all I saw from your edit was this, which is malformed. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:55, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
