Hi

Sometime ago you uploaded https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Trollope_Achievement.png and it is used on the page Trollope baronets. I am not sure if you have it quite right.

Arms—Vert, three bucks, current, argent, armed, or, within a bordure, argent. Crest — On a mount, proper, a buck, current, as in the arms, holding an oak leaf in his mouth, proper.

Edits on Australian MP pages

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you have recently made a number of edits to the pages of Australian MPs regarding their term end date. Note that in Australia, an MP's term ends on the date of the election rather than the date of when parliament in dissolved, making all MPs elected in the 2022 election all still incumbent. GMH Melbourne (talk) 12:49, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Members cease to be members at dissolution. See this legal briefing by the Australian Government Solicitor:
    • When the House of Representatives is dissolved, the members of the House cease to be members
as well as this Parliamentary news post from the 2022 dissolution
    • Now that the House has been dissolved, all business in the House has lapsed, House and joint committees no longer exist, and Members are no longer Members.
and this procedural infosheet
    • Upon dissolution of the House, all its proceedings come to an end. Further, members of the House cease to be members, sessional orders no longer have effect and committees cease to exist.

This is WP:POINTy. Consensus at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2025 March 30#Template:2025 Australia Representatives was clear. Please don't continue. TarnishedPathtalk 12:55, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Every single term start/end date of every Australian MP since federation is marked on their wikipedia article by election dates. GMH Melbourne (talk) 12:57, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
MPs continue to serve in caretaker mode until their allocated term comes to an end whether via retirement or loss of seat at election time. The exception is when MPs announce "effective immediately" resignation/retirement. -- Tytrox (talk) 01:58, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Source? Robin S. Taylor (talk) 05:59, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's how it operates. All HoR Seats are up for contention, but the incumbent is considered as the MP, maintaining recognition of holding the seat on behalf of the party they represent at the given time (broadly speaking. Not going to dwell into cases of dramas over preselection disputes). The election itself is the deciding factor of the given MP's tenure end (again, broadly speaking). There's only few instances where a sitting MP's tenure ends before election, making a seat actually vacant, which typically triggers by-election or filling via casual vacancy (in case of Senate, although Senate does have fixed terms, which is dependent whether allocated 3 or 6 year term), unless regular election time is around the corner and the seat remains vacant until then. -- Tytrox (talk) 08:00, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
By the above logic, shouldn't Anthony Albanese for example have ten terms in his infobox, with a gap of six weeks or so between each term? I T B F 📢 13:23, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
