- A series of 22 mini-RFCs that double-checked consensus on some aspects and improved certain parts of the administrator elections process has been closed (see the summary of the changes).
- A request for comment is open to gain consensus on whether future administrator elections should be held.

- A new filter has been added to the Special:Nuke tool, which allows administrators to filter for pages in a range of page sizes (in bytes). This allows, for example, deleting pages only of a certain size or below. T378488

- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.

- A new feature called Multiblocks will be deployed on English Wikipedia on the week of June 2. See the relevant announcement on the administrators' noticeboard.
- History merges performed using the mergehistory special page are now logged at both the source and destination, rather than just the source as previously, after this RFC and the resolution of T118132.

- @GhostOfDanGurney: You're certainly welcome to provide more analysis of the sources – on the article's Talk page is probably the best place. But I would not encourage a quick re-nomination. I don't think it will work out the way you might hope. The notability requirements for sport bios have tightened up over the last few years, but En-wiki is still a relatively welcoming place for them, especially if the subject has more than just a few statbox appearances or "he represented North Elbonia in the 1930 Olympic knitting competition". If your analysis of the sources is compelling to other editors then maybe another swing at it would work – preferably if one of those other editors makes the nom. Otherwise, a quick renomination will probably not produce the desired results and could even end as a speedy keep. RL0919 (talk) 22:19, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

- I assume this is in reference to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pirate Software, in which case the problem you have is with the opinions of most of the people who participated in the discussion and/or with the Wikipedia guidelines that they were appealing to. Personally, I never heard of that guy before and don't care whether or not there is an article about him. It was the discussion participants who mostly thought the article should be deleted, and I did not see anything to indicate their view was out of sync with our norms. Srich32977 & ISBN hyphens - 2016 talk page posting
[edit]Hello RL. Back in 2016 you posted a comment on my usertalkpage regarding ISBNs. Here is the thread : [[1]]. This thread was listed in a request to block me for ISBN-hyphen-changing abuse. (The rationale for the block changed during the discussion from ISBN gnoming to "[no] attempt to address the concerns of other editors." And the block was successful.) So here is my question to you: Were you satisfied with my response on the talk page? E.g., did I properly address your concern? (Warning – the discussions regarding the block and the appeal became convoluted. If you (as an Administrator) can straighten them out I will recommend that you get an upgrade to WP:Bureaucrat.) - @Srich32977: You might not have noticed my recent undoing of a couple of your edits removing ISBN hyphens ([2], [3]), but as those edits suggest, I agree with the continuing objections to these removals. Your responses to complaints about the removals have always struck me as WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT, but it is quite rare for me to take things to ANI; I just undo the edits when I need to and let it go. But persisting with these edits in the face of multiple complaints was not good, and using scripts to do them at volume was definitely asking for trouble, so I'm not really surprised that someone took it there. As an involved party in the dispute, I have no administrative role in it, so any upgrades will have to wait. But if you are open to advice: make a simple, straightforward commitment to stop removing ISBN hyphens unless asked to do so by others as part of a content review process (FA, GA, etc.). No other caveats or exceptions. I would expect that to get you unblocked promptly. --RL0919 (talk) 07:14, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you again RL. Of the various threads on the controversy yours was the best stated. "Let it go". I thought I had an interesting and helpful gnomish project that would keep me busy, but no. And, alas, I see that ISBN-hyphenation-passion has infected several editors besides myself. I thought that getting the ISBN-hyphens all in neat rows was a good idea. But it really doesn't matter because ISBN 978-0-525-53858-5 and ISBN 978-0525538585 and ISBN 9780525538585 all link to the same Book Sources result. I should have been content with that, but I thought that getting a single hyphen style in or on any particular article was good copy editing. - Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
- Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.
Technical news
- Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.
