Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, Quickfoxlazydog. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Shari Kasman, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the Edit Request Wizard), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 🧙♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 23:09, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Understood, thanks for this! Much appreciated. Quickfoxlazydog (talk) 23:10, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Note that the same rules that applied to that guy also applies for you, so you can't source content to Vimeo videos, for example. It is also highly recommended not to edit the article directly, per WP:COI 🧙♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 23:10, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks for clarifying. 142.116.157.160 (talk) 23:11, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- You can make uncontroversial changes to the article, such as changing the date of birth, alma mater, etc., but things like adding awards or anything that seems like what someone would add to their resume would have to go through the talk page. Also see how to disclose your COI. If you ever need editing help, you can consult the Teahouse, where hosts would be happy to help with your needs. 🧙♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 23:15, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Okay. Thanks. I'll just let you fix it. Sorry to interfere. Quickfoxlazydog (talk) 23:15, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- See the steps in the article I linked. Also, I talked to the IP editor on my talk page, and he has agreed to let the beach thing go, at least on Wikipedia. I would also suggest you to read that and do the same. If you really want to assert ownership of the beach, you have to do it in the real world, not on Wikipedia. 🧙♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 23:22, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
- Sure, thanks! I'm fine with what's happening in the real world, minus one weird PDF document. Thank you! Quickfoxlazydog (talk) 23:56, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
