Can you give me an example of vandalism? And I'm not quite I've got citations down. Any help you can offer would be appreciated! --Naturallyleavened (talk) 14:01, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Naturallyleavened, welcome to Wikipedia! There's a Help:Getting started page that may help you. To answer your questions:
  1. Vandalism is basically just anything that is disruptive or harmful to Wikipedia that's done on purpose. For example adding aaaaaaaa to a page or saying like HE IS STUPID or that sort of junk,
  2. There's something called the Wikipedia:VisualEditor that is really useful to new users editing Wikipedia, which also helps you add citations, links, and other useful formatting tools.
Hope this helps! Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 22:08, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Very helpful. Naturallyleavened (talk) 15:00, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

From: Leading-bookkeeper074 Regarding the Subject: Creation of the page for PNPI, and

concern to the page's adherence to Wikipedia's Guidelines

Respected Mentor,

I, Leading-bookkeeper074, have created a new page on the St. Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute. This is regarding my method of collecting the information. I have taken most of the content from the official website of the Institute. Is this Plagiarism, and/or is it against the Wikipedia Guidelines? and if so, How can I edit or modify the aforementioned page, to make it adherent to current Wikipedia Guidelines.

Thanking You, Leading-bookkeeper074 --Leading-bookkeeper074 (talk) 12:52, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Leading-bookkeeper074, hello and welcome to Wikipedia!
The article you created, St. Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute, was deleted as copyright infringement. It is not permitted to copy and paste content from another website directly into Wikipedia, as it is indeed plagiarism (see WP:PLAGFORM). You must wp:paraphrase when you use information from other websites, newspapers, etc. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Happy editing! Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 13:30, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the info! I have thoroughly read the Guidelines, and have created a draft on the page.
I also sincerely apologize to any inconveniences caused to any Wikipedia contributor, and promise to not make such silly mistakes again. Leading-bookkeeper074 (talk) 13:50, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

  • After a motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections at WP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g. [[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.

Question from Lesser Known Zone (17:52, 8 October 2025)

[edit]

Hello, My name is Roger, and I created a log in. I created a page for the musical group Lesser Known. I can view what I wrote, but for some reason, I cannot find it on Wikipedia once I log off my account?. I believe I may have done something wrong, and would like some assistance. any help would be greatly appreciated. --Lesser Known Zone (talk) 17:52, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Lesser Known Zone Hello, you created the page onto your WP:USERPAGE, at User:Lesser Known Zone. It is hard to find it once logged out because when you search for an WP:ARTICLE, it only shows items in the article space, not user page space. There is a process for new users to submit new articles as drafts onto wikipedia, the WP:WIZARD. In addition, please review Wikipedia's policy on conflict of interest and paid editing. Question from Themarkian (19:11, 18 October 2025)

[edit]

Hello, I am really hoping to get my article published. I have tried to submit it a few times and it gets rejected. The reason is it says press releases are not good sources. I've removed any source that could be considered a press release. Are you able to look at the article and provide any helpful tips on how to write it in a way that honours the guidelines and spirit of the site? I'm really hoping to get my page live. Thank you --Themarkian (talk) 19:11, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Themarkian Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Your draft keeps on being declined for not enough sources. I think looking for sources like The Globe and Mail, or Toronto Star that actually talks about your company may help achieve notability (see WP:NCORP). However, there is the possibility that not enough sources prove the company notable, and thus does not meet the requirement for an article. I suggest you take a look at WP:NCORP. Question from Northernjuniper (04:16, 14 August 2025)

[edit]

Hi there - I'm hoping to raise a topic on a page that contains misleading information and is currently being used to facilitate scams / fraud.

Are there any recommended approaches to raising this as a topic if it's not relevant to an individual's biographic information?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_P._Fenton --Northernjuniper (talk) 04:16, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Northernjuniper I'd love to help, could you specify what topic you're trying to raise and what you are wanting to achieve? Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 14:58, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you and really appreciate the quick response!
For context, I'm hoping that information on this page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_P._Fenton) can either be removed or clarified as scammers are citing Wikipedia as an authority to verify fictitious / unverified personal life information to further their exploits.
More specifically, hoping to raise that the "relations" section under the infobox is marked with "Divorce" is suspicious and not verified. A more typical Wikipedia entry would either not contain information about their relationship status, or would include a personal life section with verified information about the individuals background, family, etc.
In addition, I would welcome your opinions if it would be worth raising a topic noting that Bryan Fenton is frequently impersonated by scammers, and what sources might be best (if appropriate) to include. Northernjuniper (talk) 16:25, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Northernjuniper I found the addition of Relation --> Divorce and it was added in the most recent edits by an IPv6 user. I have removed the mention of Divorce as it is not sourced, and a quick Google search did not find any information on this. Thank you for spotting this! Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 19:19, 14 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Myrealnamm - I wanted to follow up on this thread again given recent changes from unknown users on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_P._Fenton.
More specifically, hoping to get your perspective on best approach to correct this and/or if there any steps or actions that could be taken to prevent similar incorrect updates like these from being made in the future? This information is incorrect and is being leveraged by romance scammers for impersonation.
Similar to the last request, it appears that unknown users have again updated the "Relations" in the profile details section, and have also added a "Personal Life" paragraph highlighting that he is divorced.
A search highlights that he is married to someone named Dawn who he included / mentioned in his retirement, farewell letter dated earlier this month (October 2nd 2025).

User:Northernjuniper, I am so sorry for the late response.
I took a look at the article, and an anonymous editor changed the information into "divorced". Like you said I found no sources with such claim, and did find sources saying he is married with 2 children. I have manually changed it back to the original, valid information with sources (so hopefully it isn't changed doubtfully again).
I understand your concern that the false information is used by romance scammers. In the future, you are welcome to WP:REVERT the edit, with an edit summary like "this counters sources"/"unsourced change", and optionally you can explain how the information change is a risk of impersonation.
