Before you start doing a lot of editing, you might want to take the Tutorial. It gives lots of basic information to help you to get oriented on Wikipedia.

You can sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (" ~~~~ ") for your username and a timestamp. If you have any other questions about the project, then check out Wikipedia:Help or add a question to the Help desk. Alternately, you may choose to send a message to my talk page.

Fair use rationale for Image:MeystelWeb.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MeystelWeb.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. On undeleting Meystel article

[edit]

I am sorry, but there are 2 reasons why the article cannot be undeleted at this time:

  1. We have no proof that you are the original copyright holder of the text, only your word that you are so. Even if the text is taken down from the original site, the copyright does not expire; the copyright protection exists for the text from the moment it was created until the legally defined end of that term of copyright.
  2. If you are the person who wrote the text, then the article is in violation of Wikipedia's conflict of interest principles; you should not write articles about yourself.

Either you are not the subject or the article, or you are; in either case, the article cannot be restored at this time. If you wish to contest this, please submit the article for Deletion Review at WP:DRV where other editors may decide to overrule this decision. It is your prerogative to do so. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 18:53, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Meystel, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, which will be reviewed by other editors. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hello, Meystel,
Do not create orphaned Talk pages. They will just be deleted. I'm not sure if there is even a WikiProject by the name you used.
If you have questions about editing on Wikipedia, please bring them to the Teahouse where experienced editors can offer you advice, support and a second opinion. If you have a question about the review of a draft article, please contact the reviewer on their User talk page with your question or come to the AFC Help Desk. Liz Read! I still don't understand.
Come to the Teahouse.
But when I come to the Teahouse and try to post a question, it's ... don't post to the Teahouse?
I am really missing something here. Meystel (talk) 20:12, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what orphaned talk page you are referring to. I attempted to post in 3 places.
If they do not exist then I need help understanding what does exist / how to find the right place to post for help. Meystel (talk) 20:17, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
