Request for usurpation

[edit]

Hello, Mandula. A request has been made at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations (or meta:SRUC) to usurp, or "take over", your username because another user would like to use it to edit. The changing username guideline allows a username that is not being actively used to be usurped if the user is given an opportunity to object and does not do so.

If you do not object to being renamed to a new username in order for another user to use the name you currently have, please log in and post a reply here saying so (you may also tell us what username you would like to be renamed to, or we will provide you with a generic one).

If you do nothing: the request may be filled shortly, and your account will be moved to a generic username. You may request that it be moved to a new username of your choice at any time.

If you object to being renamed: please log in and make an edit to this page clearly stating that you object to usurpation. Any objection on your part will prevent usurpation. However, keep in mind that you may still be renamed during mw:SUL finalization.

Please note that even if your current username is usurped, you can still edit and your data will not be lost; your preferences, watchlist, and other user settings will be transferred to a new username.

Thank you for your time. –xenotalk 23:49, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where to write in this case, really. I have been renamed from Mandulaa to Mandula successfully, and I want to thank you for that. I don't have a functional talk page, though. I edited an article (Vinyl revival), but ClueBot NG flagged my edit as vandalism (of course, it's a false positive), and left a message on my talk page (got an email, read it there), which I never saw because I just can't see it. I still have the orange "You have new messages" notification stuck at the top, but when I click it, I get redirected to the User talk: Mandula (usurped) talk page. That notification stuck there. The question is: can I have a normal, User talk:Mandula talk page, and can I remove that orange notification from there? I hope you'll notice my message here. Map

[edit]

Hey Mandula! I'm going to post this on your talk page here, the non-usurped version, and your commons talk page to make sure you see it. I saw that you made the map for American Truck Simulator that shows which DLCs have been released and which ones are in development and I wonder if you could make a similar one for Euro Truck Simulator 2 as I think it would be very useful there as well. If not be sure to let me know and we could find something better than the table that's currently there. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:20, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Night Verses, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Belleville. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Nikon Z50II & FW version

[edit]

Thanks for your edit to pull in the latest FW version from WikiData. I was not aware that this could be done, as it previously was not showing up in the infobox.

Question - Who/how is the WikiData maintained ? I assume that it must be manually updated ? RSStockdale (talk) 00:26, 26 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, I just noticed your message as I did not get a notification about it (it is caused by the mess that was renaming my Wikipedia username a couple of years ago). Anyway, I digress.
Yes, the addition of a firmware parameter to Template:Infobox camera was done by me very recently, that is why you did not see it being used previously. I designed the parameter to retrieve data from Wikidata, that's right. This way, we can centrally update the knowledge base when a new fw version comes out, with references, and this appears in the camera infoboxes with a consistent formatting (including references for the fw release).
As for your question: Wikidata is maintained by us, just like Wikipedia. It has the same account system as normal Wiki, so you should be abloe to log in using your credentials there, too. The main difference is that it is a knowledge database for structured data, so we have an item identifier for something (a camera model, for example), and we can make statements about it by assigning properties and values to them (in this case, "software version identifier" property has the value "3.01" for Nikon Z8), along with qualifiers (e.g. publication date) and references for that statement (in this case link to the firmware release page). Like on Wiki, there are bots on Wikidata as well, which might automate updating some properties and statements, but for the camera details like fw version, that is updated manually at the moment. Feel free to update the firmware versions or add the version number to other existing cameras, just make sure that only the latest version has the "Preferred rank" (upwards arrow is filled grey when editing) and only that one value appears as green. This makes sure we will see the latest version in the infoboxes, but also retains previous versions in Wikidata. Check out the Nikon Z8 item in Wikidata to see how this "Preferred rank" is set up. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I will check out that Z8 item RSStockdale (talk) 16:51, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nikon Z5II & collapsible FW update table

[edit]

In answer to your question on the update history page of the Z5II, I set all of the Firmware update sections on the various Nikon Z cameras to "collapsed", as they tend to grow quite large over time, and then someone doesn't have to change it to collapsed at a later time. Plus, I view the FW history as something that is not of interest to most casual readers of the pages. RSStockdale (talk) 16:49, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
