Articles for deletion/INVNT
[edit]Hi Local Variable, in the future be sure to notify everyone who has participated in an AfD/discussion when a substantial change is made. Also, I have never done a bundle; otherwise I would help you and I am not sure how adding another article it is going to impact the AfD given it's already been underway for a couple days. ?? You might want to ask one the admins who regularly close AfDs. If you are not sure who to contact, let me know and I will try to find someone for you. S0091 (talk) 17:11, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. The reason for the ping was because I wasn't entirely sure about the process and both of you seem experienced with AfD. Local Variable (talk) 23:55, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
An IT blessing for you!

That CrowdStrike IP
[edit]Just a heads up, I don't think that the IP editor on the CrowdStrike discussion is a logged-out sock of someone engaged in the discussion. I think they're an LTA that's trolling (see also Special:Diff/1239671986; same ASN, different address). Not enough evidence for any action, but probably safe to just deny/ignore and they'll go away. - @Dylnuge Ah, good catch. I wasn’t confident enough to level any accusations at anyone or file a report. Glad to be proven wrong. Local Variable (talk) 13:06, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Jeff Firewalker Schmitt
[edit]Hello Local Variable, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jeff Firewalker Schmitt, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Decline speedy, enough of a claim of significance. Consider WP:AFD instead. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Curbon7 (talk) 06:56, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- To clarify further than a tinned message: the bare minimum needed to surpass A7 is reached, as there is a claim to significance. Consider WP:AFD instead, though please make sure he doesn't pass WP:NPROF if you go that route. Curbon7 (talk) 07:02, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Curbon7 Thanks for reviewing. I think it was a borderline case, so I can understand the caution. However at the time I tagged the article, the only possible claim to significance was being a grant recipient. I accept the subsequent edits pushed it over the line. Local Variable (talk) 07:05, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]Thank you for causing the deletion of an article in an area where you are not active in the first place. Hauskasic (talk) 04:19, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- I can understand your disappointment, but the consensus was that the article did not comply with Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines. If you have concerns, please raise them with the deleting administrator or at WP:DRV. Please note that an editor does not need to be "active" in a particular area on Wikipedia to participate in deletion discussions or nominate pages for deletion. Local Variable (talk) 04:37, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- You did not apply the standard of this policy WP:BEFORE. After a whole day, you simply nominated it for deletion. There are sources, if you had gone to something called Google, you would have found dozens of statements and YouTube interviews (not just Netanyahu) that elaborate in detail on Israel's objectives. I proposed a compromise in my statement, which was to move the article to "Israel's war objectives in the Gaza war," but no one paid attention to it. Hauskasic (talk) 04:57, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- The policy you've cited relates to requests for adminship, I think you mean WP:BEFORE. I don't agree that it applies - I did do checks, as indicated in the nom statement. The article had an unclear scope, it wasn't at all apparent it was about objectives of the war, it began by suggesting the article was about a slogan. Even if it was about objectives of the war, they appear to be covered in existing articles. I am not an administrator and I advise you to take your complaint to the deleting administrator or, if you think the consensus was interpreted incorrectly, DRV (but make sure to read the page carefully, because simply disagreeing with the outcome isn't enough).
