Autopatrolled granted
[edit]
Hi Laterthanyouthink, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Canley (talk) 04:10, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you Canley! I may not be creating any new articles nor have time for becoming a new page patroller for a little while in the near future, but I will take note of your advice and check out Rater and StubSorter. I'll try to help out with the new page patrolling later in the year. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:15, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, please do not add references to self-published sources like New My Royals, as you did here and several other places. Thank you. JoelleJay (talk) 03:08, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- I have no memory of that particular edit, but where is the evidence that the source is self-published? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:13, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- It is a blog. Unless a site has a clear editorial team with published standards, it is very unlikely to be reliable. JoelleJay (talk) 03:20, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- The photos kind of tell the story, don't you think? And apparently published by someone obsessed with royals, who uses press releases to source her information. Anyway I don't particularly care one way or another - it was just confirmation of what a particular prize was about, awarded to the subject of the article. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:13, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- What do you mean? Even when published in RS, we definitely cannot use images alone for identification/confirmation of awards etc. (this was unfortunately so widespread on Wikipedia earlier on that we still have thousands of "awards and honors" sourced solely to Alamy or Getty images that need to be removed), so it's even less acceptable when they're sourced from non-RS. In general, if the only places where info on something can be found are non-independent and/or non-RS, it is probably not WP:BALASP to include it at all. For the Vanguardia awards, we would really want some independent RS indication that they are important enough to mention. Let me know if you have any more questions. We also have an admin, @DrKay, who is active in this area and could expand on policy. JoelleJay (talk) 16:38, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

[edit]The article explains that the band, not the person, is known as Betty Curse. Please explain. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 12:42, 4 September 2025 (UTC)

Copyright problem: State Library of South Australia
[edit] Hello Laterthanyouthink! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as State Library of South Australia, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted material from other websites or printed works. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Australia is not a compatible license.— Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:41, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up. I'm very surprised by that, but I'll have another look at it and discuss on the talk page. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 22:58, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Laterthanyouthink, I actually know the author (Jude Elton) as well as the head of the History Trust of SA (Greg Mackie), and I'd be happy to raise this issue with them, to get them to change the licence level to Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 01:51, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Bahudhara - that would be amazing, if you can see if they are receptive to that idea. I was thinking of emailing them myself, but if you know them already then I'm happy to leave it up to you.
- I haven't got back to that article yet because I've been trying to finish off some film stuff that I started yesterday, but will have a look at improving it later anyway. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:57, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- I've just emailed them, and had autogenerated responses - Greg Mackie is no longer there; and the current CEO (Kristy Kokegai, who I am also acquainted with), is on annual leave until the 20th. Hopefully the message will soon get through to someone with sufficient authority to update the license on their website. I'll keep you posted. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 03:48, 9 October 2025 (UTC)

Updating project data (importance etc) on the Talk page
[edit]It looks to me that you are doing this manually. There is a very good tool called Rater that makes that task so much easier, including guessing the quality for you if you want to use it. Read about it at User:Evad37/rater and install it following their simple instructions (click on the "Special page" and then paste in the gobbledy-gook on the line above and Save. Rater will then appear on your menu (exactly where depends on which interface/skin you are using, I use the old Vector skin where it's under "More", but it will be there somewhere. You can use Rater whether you are looking at the article or its Talk page. If you need help, I can do a Zoom session with you to get you set up with it. Kerry (talk) 00:17, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks Kerry. I've been meaning to have a look at that. I don't often set out to rate pages - it's more often on the fly, when working on an article that has obviously been significantly upgraded since it was last rated. I'll have a go at installing the rater tool and get back to you if I get stuck. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:00, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Adding new articles to projects and appropriate subprojects etc is its original purpose, which is much easier than doing it manually. Whether you use its automated rating suggestions or choose your own, it still makes it easier to do the actual update of the project rating. Kerry (talk) 22:23, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I've just been adding projects manually, but will definitely look at that later today. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:08, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
