Welcome!
[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, Kruft! I am Marek69 and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Request reason:
I appear to have been blocked from editing because the static IP address I was assigned by my ISP has been flagged as a webhost. This is incorrect. This is a static IP assigned only to my home. My IP address is 149.86.70.59
Accept reason:
I've unblocked the IP range. Thank Ritchie not me. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:46, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you @Ritchie333! Much appreciated. And thank you @Zzuuzz anyway. Kruft (talk) 16:50, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
I tried to undo some vandalism yesterday, which is when I discovered I cannot edit due to the IP range block. I haven't tried to edit - at least while logged in - for a very long time, which is why I've only just discovered I can't. I still get the blocked message when attempting to edit my sandbox page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kruft (talk • contribs) 15:57, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- That's correct, you won't be able to edit even when logged into an account as the block is what we call a hard IP block that disables anonymous and registered editing from that IP. These sort of blocks are normally only used for seriously disruptive editors who create random accounts on the fly over multiple IP addresses, spreading complete havoc, and unfortunately, collateral damage like this occurs.
- The other option is that I can grant you IP block exemption which will allow this account the ability to edit. As you said you edit anonymously, I'm not sure how many edits you've made or where. It would be useful to get an indication of that, so I can make a plausible case for IP block exemption to everyone else. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:09, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. I honestly can't remember any anonymous edits I've made or even if I ever have. I only mentioned "while logged in" because I can see I made an edit in 2009. It's possible that I've made anonymous edits that were removing vandalism, but I know I've never made anything more substantial than that. It would be a shame not to be able to do so in future, but I understand if you can't make the argument. I'd rather be collateral than have Wikipedia vandalised! - And fwiw, the vandalism I was trying to fix last night has already been fixed, so all is good there. Kruft (talk) 16:18, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
