Blocked

[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Alexf(talk) 01:28, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! To help us respond to the request, please do the following:

I have read through the payment disclosure and conflict of interest policies and guidelines, and can guarantee that I am not seeking payment or compensation for any edits that I make or articles I create. I am looking to create a Wikipedia page for Swaybox Studios. I have COI with this, and would like to create the page in a neutral way that follows all of Wikipedia's guildlines. Please let me know how would be the best way to go about this to create a page that is factual and does not cross any lines with Wikipedia's rules on self promotion. Not every comment needs to be an unblock request, additional comments should be standard comments, I've removed the template from your above comment. 331dot (talk) 20:49, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you. To restate from the above, I have read through the payment disclosure and conflict of interest policies and guidelines, and can guarantee that I am not seeking payment or compensation for any edits that I make or articles I create. Are you employed by the studio? 331dot (talk) 20:56, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I am. Swaybox Studios (talk) 22:13, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then you must make the stricter paid editing disclosure. If you are employed by them, you are paid a salary, that counts as compensation that triggers the disclosure requirement, it does not require specific payment for editing(otherwise every paid editor would deny being specifically paid to edit).
Your draft had a fundamental(though common) error in that you were telling us what you want the world to know about your company. That is the wrong approach. Wikipedia is not a place for a company to tell about itself, its offerings, and what it views as its own history. A Wikipedia article about a company must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. We aren't interested in what a company says about itself, primarily we're interested in what sources wholly unconnected with a company choose on their own to say about it. This does not include staff interviews, press releases, brief mentions, the reporting of routine business activities, or primary sources. The vast majority of companies do not merit Wikipedia articles(even some that may have them and we just haven't removed them yet). Please read WP:BOSS, and show it to your colleagues/superiors.
What you are trying to do is not easily accomplished; writing a new article is the most difficult task to perform on Wikipedia, and it's even harder with a conflict of interest. You would need to set aside everything you know about your company and all routine reporting and all materials its puts out, limiting yourself to summarizing what independent sources with significant coverage say. Most people in your position have great difficulty with that. Are you the rare person who can? Possibly, but the odds are against it.
Is there anything you want to edit about other than your company/its films? 331dot (talk) 08:55, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Kconnolly, can you please confirm that you have read and understood the guidelines at WP:PAID? Happy to unblock but I'd like to make sure you've understood those guidelines first. -- asilvering (talk) 01:40, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have renamed your account. Another uninvolved admin will review your unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 13:57, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
