Act of Vandalism

[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at V (programming language). Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Wukuendo (talk) 06:01, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

COI and Zig

[edit]

It appears you are a contributing developer of Zig (based on public information you have disclosed) and may have a connection or association with the Zig Software Foundation. Per WP:COI, if this is the situation, editors are suppose to disclose any conflict of interests. This includes avoiding being involved in affected articles related to competitors of the Zig language. Please clarify your status. Wukuendo (talk) 12:23, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It is true that I contribute to the Zig project, my contributions can be found here, however I have no intention of editing the Zig (programming language) article and the only change I have made reverted obvious vandalism by an account that has since been banned.
Since my contribution has been janitoral in nature and I did not change the actual contents or nature of the article I do not believe I am required to disclose any potential Conflict of Interest, though I am free for someone that isn't you to dispute that.
Additionally while I assume this accusation has been made in good faith, this is the second accusation you have made after my changes to the V_(programming_language) article and I ask that for any future accsusation you pull in a third party to verify the claims you make. Your statement is incorrect, "I do not believe I am required to disclose any potential Conflict of Interest"--Jan200101. In fact, all editors are subject to being asked and must make such full disclosures. This is not about feeling accused, but a matter of Wikipedia policy, based on publicly disclosed information that you have provided. Read WP:COI. By an editor only giving partial information, this creates more questions. And if the editor is being paid by or has a conflict of interest involving an association, this also involves editing competitor articles as well (per WP:COI).
Your statements are giving the appearance of having a conflict of interest, in addition to not addressing if there is any money involved. "you must disclose who is paying you, on whose behalf the edits are made, and any other relevant affiliation". Making a clear and full public disclosure about your status can address the issue.Wukuendo (talk) 15:54, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The only change I have made is classified as an uncontroversial edit that even those with a Conflict of Interests are allowed to make and I am not otherwise involved with the article thus I haven't declared any Conflict.
I've also not diclosed who is paying me because I am not being payed and do not make edits on behalf of others.
Looking back a bit it seems you've have accused others of a Conflict of Interest for editing the V Article before: User_talk:Caleb_Stanford#What's_considered_to_be_of_a_promotional_tone_for_V
Please to not continue this any further, I will not put a COI notice on my profile until I make edits to the Zig Article that aren't cleaning up obvious vandalism, if you believe that this continues to be an issue please put me on the COI Noticeboard for others to evaluate. You appear to not understand Wikipedia's policy. People have asked me and I have asked others, that's how it works. People then disclose or give statements about their status. Making a COI statement is not based on how much you might possibly edit an article in the future. It is based on the editor having a conflict of interest, and disclosing such, per Wikipedia policy. If an editor has that issue, they are to make that statement on their page.
You are listed as a contributor of Zig on the Ziglang site, along with the creator of the language, going back to at least version 0.9.0 (on the language's public release notes). Which came out in 2021.Wukuendo (talk) 16:47, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
please stop editing your message, it keeps sending a new notification to me.
I am not going to change anything, report me to the noticeboard if you consider this an issue. Jan200101 (talk) 16:48, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
