ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:52, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know

When you (hopefully) stalk page, I'm not scaring my mentees away: I have left the mentorship program. If you are not part of it yet, I recommend you join here. You would be a very good mentor for new editors! CREditzWiki (yap) | (things i apparently did) 20:16, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@CREditzWiki Ah, I joined, yet mine are silent... HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 20:20, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

why did you leave an argument on monkeysmashingkeyboard's "lawn"? ~2025-34596-18 (talk) 00:44, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@~2025-34596-18 Well, I was being humorous since MSK got blocked. We were joking about whether or not he would keep his rollback permission, and I went in and left a comment. My grammar was horrendous, so I said it as if I originally had rollback (which I didn't back then) but got revoked. We were joking about rogue admins and assuming bad faith, and well, you know, the whole "argument" was pretty much a joke. HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 00:48, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Finally,I (17:31, 19 November 2025)

[edit]

I have Danny Boyle's confirmation and the dad of an actor in the movie said that Jimmy's family were not "KILLED" in 28 Years Later the parents get Infected so can it be changed from 'killed by the Infected' to 'attacked by the Infected' which sounds much more accurate. I mean five minutes of the dad succumbing to Infection and that is not dead at all. I prefer to trust the word of the director himself over Mike on Wikipedia who says every edit is 'disruptive' --Finally,I (talk) 17:31, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Finally,I Hello! I'm sorry if you think that I reverted your edit incorrectly. But, first, what account are you referring to? I likely reverted it because you need to cite sources. If you want to learn how to, simply ask. Thank you! HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 19:43, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary account IP viewer granted

[edit]
The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, HwyNerd Mike. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! – robertsky (talk) 06:25, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 06:32, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Bocanegris (10:14, 22 November 2025)

[edit]

Hi mike! I'm new and I'm ESL so... I'm sorry if i sound weird (i put extra effort on my actual edits). I also studied every rule and guideline i could find before actually editing anything. but still, please advice me if i'm getting something wrong. I'd like to focus on expanding an creating articles for lesser known artists and works of art (directors, comedians, writers, etc). Also, I'd like to be part of the "janitors" that clean up spam and low quality articles. I don't know what else to say other than thank you for your time. I hope you're doing well. --Bocanegris (talk) 10:14, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bocanegris Hi there! Hope you stay, and it seems like you're doing well and have studied the policies. You're really well off with the content policies, and that's really important. If you want to be a sysop, you do need to gain much more experience (take the most recent RFA for example), developing a strong background in content creation, policy understanding, resolving issues, demonstrating trust, and much more. Keep up the content work, and you're looking strong for a starter!
Also, good luck with that AfD. HwyNerd Mike (t | c) 17:01, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
